Save the Children recruits a Technical program manager mhpss in Jakarta
Role purpose:
The Technical Program Manager will lead MHPSS initiative and program implementation activities of Save the Children Indonesia (SCIDN), in humanitarian and development context. The role will provide management and technical support for Save the Children’s MHPSS programs. This will include contributing to strategic directions and plans, developing and maintaining key external partnerships, maintaining links with other departments to strengthen and expanding our approaches for supporting children’s psychosocial well-being, provides technical assistance to develop, implement, improve, and evaluate MHPSS programming. Duties of this post holder include ensuring all program activities outlined in MHPSS proposal are implemented according to plan and at a high-level of quality; all reporting and planning is completed in a timely manner and at a high-quality; all communications are completed in a timely and accurate manner; we coordinate well with key external stakeholders; all child safeguarding controls are enforced; and financial and administrative management adheres to SCIDN and donors policies, regulations, and good practices. The post holder will also lead on technical sector planning at field office level and ensure advocacy work on MHPSS with key government stakeholders to achieve positive change using evidence from our program implementation as the basis. S/he will represent SCIDN program implementation team when required and support program development and emergency preparedness and response related with MHPSS. S/he will be required for travel to field locations and support for hosting donor visits.
The post holder will contribute to achieving the global KPIs on Operations Delivery as follows:
- Oversee ongoing development and emergency programming of the existing portfolio at field office level in order to achieve ambitious breakthroughs for children.
- Ensure continued development and management of a high performing program implementation team.
- Contribute to development of strong partnerships.
- Contribute to effective advocacy for children and collaborate with other departments to implement advocacy initiatives that support the theory of change.
- Help build a strong brand for SCIDN by ensuring compliance with global brand procedures and awareness of brand in local market.
- Contribute to ensuring financial sustainability and growth orientation in the funding portfolio.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the post holder will be deployed as part of the emergency response team and expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Qualifications and experience
- Preferably Master degree in psychology, child protection, public health, social science or other field relevant with MHPSS .
- Recommended a minimum of 7 years of program management experience in MHPSS in development and humanitarian work, including significant field implementation experience.
- Previous experience of managing and developing a team and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others.
- An understanding of Education, Publich Health, Child Protection, Food Security and Livelihood, and Shelter and Infrastructure issues in Indonesia is preferrrable; at least two of these sectors.
- Experience working with an international NGO or similar organization.
- Solid project management skills with a proven history of delivering results.
- Substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control.
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken Indonesian, strong English written and spoken skills.
- Ability and willingness to be stationed in Central Sulawesi with frequent travel to field locations.
- Commitment to and understanding of SCIDN’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English.
