Save the Children recruits a Senior Communications Coordinator (Multimedia) – (200002ZK) in Yangon
TITLE: Senior Communications Coordinator (Multimedia) (for Myanmar National only)
ROLE PURPOSE:
The role of the Senior Communications Coordinator is to lead the development, coordination and the implementation of Save the Children’s strategic communications strategy in Myanmar. This role works with programme and Advocacy/Campaign team to deliver our visibility, public engagement and influence work to achieve outcomes for children across all thematic areas.
The post holder will lead the production and development of communications products necessary for communication with donors, stakeholders, government, beneficiaries and Save the Children staff members. He/she will generate working partnerships with Save the Children technical staff to help deliver effective behaviour change communications and to support public campaigns to improve the lives of children across Myanmar. They will manage and produce a range of multimedia products that tell our story through film and photography.
The Senior Communications Coordinator (Multimedia) will generate information and stories from the field offices to the Yangon office. These stories will then be used to promote Save the Children’s agenda within Myanmar and around the globe. The post-holder will develop written, multimedia and digital assets that will positively represent the work of Save the Children.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Director of Advocacy, Communications, Campaigns and Media
Direct Reports: Internal Communications Officer
Financial Approval: No financial approval
External Representation: Regular interpersonal contact with the media, donors visiting programmes and brief and prepare senior staff members who are interviewed by the media
Travel: Occasional (up to 5 days every month)
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
Communications
- Manage multimedia production scheduling and lead production of visually appealing and brand-aligned external marketing materials for all sectors and programmes that have requested it, especially using video and photography.
- Manage Save the Children Myanmar’s external digital communications channels, including website and social media.
- Produce accurate, clear and consistent information and communications outputs that highlight the development situation in Myanmar, including case studies, feature stories and digital posts.
- Develop and execute strategic communications support strategies for programme teams.
- Support the production of information and education materials for programme teams that have requested it.
- Lead in the development of communications with communities and behavioural change communications strategies for programme teams that have requested it
- Design and execute digital communications strategy, including content planning and use of analytics to assess our digital performance.
- Work with MST Digital support team to produce regular digital reports.
Internal Communications
- Manage Internal Communications Officer and support them to develop an internal communications strategy that increases the country office’s sharing and learning agenda.
- Develops strategies to leverage internal communications into more compelling storytelling for public communications.
- Contribute to updates through workplace and staff Facebook page.
Campaigning
- Lead multimedia strategy and production to support Save the Children’s priority campaigns efforts through raising public awareness on child survival issues, through popular mobilisation events, high level advocacy events and media collaboration
- Support Campaign Manager to produce compelling content to support campaign activities across Save the Children’s development programs
Brand Management
- Lead branding support across the Myanmar CO
- Ensure all materials are printed and designed according to Save the Children’s brand guidelines
- Be a brand ambassador, promoting the values, behaviour and aesthetics of the brand
Events
- Host donor trips as necessary
- Help organise external events for the country office as necessary
Capacity Building
- Develop and deliver regular training of field and HQ staff on visual storytelling and case study creation
Child Safeguarding Responsibilities
Develop specific and contextual country level guidance to ensure that children who participate in media or communications work are protected from exploitation, increased vulnerability, or any form of harm or indignity
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Skills and Experience: At least 4 years’ experience in advertising, communications, media management, event management, marketing, public relations, or any related field. Overseas work experience is preferred.
Education: Bachelor Degree in communications, arts, fine arts, or any related field. Overseas study experience is preferred.
Communication and Technical Skills
- Multimedia Producer/Film making
- Photography
- Experience developing content strategy for cause related organisations.
- Excellent English and Myanmar writing skills, with experience writing case studies for development.
- Ability to speak confidently in front of the media, donors and senior staff
- Ability to deliver key messages to the media
- Good eye for page layouts and graphic design
- Excellent experience developing and implementing social media strategies.
- Good understanding of the key components in brand management
- Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment according to travel requirements
Management:
- Ability to manage small teams and work across a variety of internal stakeholders.
- Good people management skills/experience and proven ability to create an environment, which encourages team working and motivates a team across various geographical areas.
General:
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation developing effective working relationships to deliver outstanding results for children
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.
