Objective :
The assignment aims to support retain and develop current partnership profiles, in addition to expanding UNICEF’s portfolio of private sector partners to support the country programme and B4R strategy.
Key results to be achieved through the consultancy include :
- B4R and CRB focused partnerships with private sector companies and multi-stakeholder initiatives such as Industries and Chambers are supported ;
- Research and communication support provided to ensure availability of up-to-date partnership resources, such as presentation, partnership documentation, case-studies, reports ;
- PSP-led events and functions are well coordinated with ECO’s External Communication.
Methodology :
The incumbent will report to the Chief Private Sector & Partnerships. The assignment will require regular research and updates on private sector practices and as well as liaison with programme colleagues, Private Sector Fundraising and Parnerships (PFP) Comms and Mena Regional Office.
Activities, deliverables and timelines, plus budget per deliverable :
Under the direction of the Chief Private Sector Partnership (PSP) and the Fundraising Officer, the incumbent will :
- Map out and research the business sector, which includes corporations (ranging from small and medium enterprises and community-level entrepreneurs to large multinational corporations), aggregators such as multi-stakeholder platforms and industry bodies ;
- Follow up on sections’ recommendations and plans for integrating B4R in programme workplans and targets ;
- Draft cases for support and initiate contact with potential business leaders ;
- Document PSP work through development of case studies, cases for support, etc. ;
- Support the organization of PSP-led events and functions, including the Gouna Film Festival and UNICEF’s Gala.

A pipeline of prospect partners to support the Business for Results and Child Rights and Businesses strategies and partnerships is provided:
- Weekly research findings on existing practices of Chambers of Commerce, Industry Associations and selected private businesses that could support UNICEF’s B4R and CRB strategies is shared with PSP team
- A list of at least 2 new recommended main industries/sectors that impact child rights is submitted to Chief Private Sector on a monthly basis to feed in PSP pipeline
- A list of contact information for potential private businesses that UNICEF can engage with is monthly updated
- Minutes of meetings with programme colleagues on recommendations and plans for B4R integrated activities in programme workplans and targets are shared with PSP team

Up-to-date private sector partnership resources and materials abiding by UNICEF editorial and branding guidelines, readily available for external and internal use:
- A first draft of funding proposals, partnership briefs, presentations, detailed project summaries and private-sector-friendly concept notes are submitted to PSP team as required
- Necessary guidance is collected from Communication in PFP and clearance on PSP Communication activities is obtained
- A first draft of case-studies and fact sheets on existing private sector partnerships to be used by PSP with the objective of documenting ECO’s work is submitted to PSP team as required

- A guest list with contact information is submitted to PSP team
- Invitations are sent out to guest list
- Logistical support at and during the events is provided as required.

Qualifications, specialized experience and additional competencies :
Education : Secondary school education is the minimum requirement.
Experience :
- At least two years of professional experience and knowledge of the local private sector ;
- Previous working experience in UN system is an asset ;
- Demonstrated research, planning, communication and writing skills.
Language Requirements : Fluency in English (required) and Arabic (preferred).
Conditions of work :
The consultant will be office-based as the office space and Covid19 situation permit and will require a laptop.
