Job Description
The Logistics team is looking for a Terminal Supervisor for the Alrode area to join their team.
As Terminal Supervisor, you will be responsible for the following activities:
STRATEGY:
- You will supervise the operation of the terminal within the framework of relevant legislation and regulations governing the Industry thus ensuring high customer service levels with the aim of contributing to the effective management and efficient operation of the terminal.
KEY RESULTS:
- You will Supervise the operations of the terminal to ensure all terminal / gantry activities and products received, handled and issued are done so safely and efficiently thereby contributing to improved controls.
STOCK :
- Maintain levels at set targets to minimise working capital requirements and to meet customer demands.
- Reconcile daily ensuring that sales transactions are processed, and quality control is maintained.
- Ensure stock gains/losses are within accepted norms/standards to minimise stock losses.
SUPERVISE THE LOADING AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE PRODUCT IN THE TERMINAL TO ENSURE:
- The right product, in the right time, at the right quantity against set service levels and transport KPI’s to meet customer requirements and improve the efficiency and optimisation of the transport.
- Products loaded are reconciled daily to maintain quality and stock control.
- Delivery gains/losses are within accepted norms/standards to minimise stock losses.
- HSEQ standards are maintained.
MAINTENANCE AND CAPEX PROJECTS :
- Supervise the terminal’s maintenance programmes at minimum cost ensuring no loss of revenue due to downtime in the terminal’s operation, the company’s assets are protected and all risk is minimised.
- Assist the Terminal Manager in compiling the annual maintenance budgets for the terminal to ensure accurate and sufficient allocation of funds in this regard.
- Assist the Terminal Manager to manage and deliver CAPEX Projects on time and within Budget, with no Loss Time Injuries (LTI).
HSEQ:
To effectively manage and minimise the risk associated with depot operations by ensuring:
- compliance with all HSE Policies, rules, guidelines and legal requirements within area of responsibility;
- promotion of safe working environment and positively contributing to the company HSE KPI’s and risk reduction strategies;
- that HSE competency requirements are enforced within area of responsibility.
- Issue of work authorisations for all contractors.
PEOPLE :
- You will supervise all subordinates through continuous people management, staff development and coaching / mentoring to ensure a positive working environment that will attract and retain skilled manpower and increase productivity.
- Assist with the practical training of Operations and Management trainees and employees from other depots through on-the-job training and rotation within the terminal that will result in meeting the objective of the training programme.
GOVERNANCE:
Ensure effective risk management and internal control, including asset management, for area of responsibility
Context and environment
- Supervise the entire operation of the Terminal within the framework of all relevant legislation (Including National Key Points Act) and regulations governing the Industry thus ensuring high customer service levels with the aim of contributing to TOTAL’s profitability and strategic supply positioning
- KPI’s – expenditure, TL exceptions, audit reports (safety, quality, environment and admin), HSEQ stats, transport KPI, stock loss reports
- Technical: strained storage capacity with no buffer stock along the supply chain Legal: historical practice of hospitality and product exchange agreements, with lack of controls among the industry players; outsourced fuel transport Social: BBBEE requirements
- Monthly prices changes results in fluctuating demand.
Candidate profile
Qualification: Suitable 3-year tertiary qualification. Degree/BTech in Engineering / Logistics
6 – 10 years’ experience gained in a petrochemical, production, and warehousing or industrial environment
Extensive experience in stock management
Knowledge of company policies and procedures
