The objective of this technical assistance is to strengthen the management of the Expanded Program on Immunization in the 12 priority provinces through the implementation of the ACZ/equity approach developed in the action plans of the health zones and health areas.
How can you make a difference?
Under the supervision of the Immunization Manager of the Kinshasa office, the main mission of the Technical Assistant will be to support the coordination and monitoring of the implementation of the Mashako Plan in the 12 priority provinces with the following responsibilities :
- Participate in the development of EPI strategic and operational documents to reach children and “zero dose” and under-immunized communities ;
- Provide technical support for the analysis of the situation of immunization equity in the 12 priority provinces and their health zones ;
- Participate in the updating of provincial plans and microplans of priority health zones and in the selection of pro-equity interventions to be implemented in these health zones ;
- Provide technical support for the development of social mapping of immunization stakeholders both at the level of priority health zones and at the level of health areas ;
- Participate in the establishment of community platforms for immunization and monitoring of the accountability framework in priority health zones ;
- Provide technical support for the implementation of the community immunization registry in priority health zones ;
- Provide technical support for programming of mobile immunization strategies and strategies ;
- Participate in the development of targeted formative supervision plans based on an analysis of the program’s strengths and weaknesses ;
- Provide technical support for the analysis of IHD2 data and provide feedback to priority provinces ;
- Contribute to the establishment of a framework for monitoring and follow-up of interventions oriented towards hard-to-reach communities ;
Quarterly monitoring of dashboards and bottlenecks in the immunization system in priority health zones and provinces.
Expected results :
- EPI micro plans are available in 100% of the 12 provinces and priority health zones and in at least 80% of their health areas ;
- 100% of the microplans of health zones indicate hard-to-reach populations and how to reach them ;
- At least two staff members in the health areas of the priority health zones are trained on the approach to reach each community/each child ;
- At least 80% of health areas have community platforms for immunization in priority health areas ;
- 100% of community platforms use the village immunization registry ;
- Dashboards and bottlenecks in the immunization system in priority health zones are monitored quarterly ;
- 100% of the health zones carry out at least 80% of the supervision each month ;
- 100% of health zones and health areas in the provinces hold at least one meeting per quarter during which immunization and other primary health care services are discussed with leaders of community organizations, local authorities and religious leaders ;
- 100% of the health zones hold a monthly report review meeting during which data, trends and follow-up actions are discussed with feedback sent to the health facilities.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have :
- Doctorate in Medicine or equivalent degree in public health ;
- At least 5 years of experience in the field of immunization program management or public health ;
- Good knowledge of the RED/Equity strategy and how it is implemented ;
- Good experience in training health workers in EPI management (planning, logistics, communication and immunization in practice) ;
- Good knowledge of C4D strategies for routine EPI ;
- Fluency in French is required. Knowledge of English is a strong asset.
