For every child, education :

Under the guidance of the Chief Education and in close collaboration with the Education team and the Specialist, gender and girls education, the intern will make technical and programmatic contributions. The intern will also support the education team with report writing and proposal writing. He/she is expected to contribute in various ways outlined in the Key tasks and responsibilities below. Any other tasks to be attributed will be discussed and agreed with the Education (domain) intern during his/her tenure. It will be thus open to further discussion with the intern.

 

How can you make a difference?

  • Assist in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of education projects with a special focus on gender and girls education ;
  • Assist in the drafting of documents such as reports and proposals in French and English ;
  • Assist in the drafting of reports and develop a reporting management tool ;
  • Provide technical support in other areas where the intern and UNICEF agree as necessary.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Currently pursuing a University Degree in education or development studies, with a special focus on gender ;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and English ;
  • Well-organized and able to present ideas in a concise and logical format, including proven ability to summarize lengthy and complex information into short and simple language ;
  • User of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint ;
  • Fluent in French and English is required.

Duration : Three months (with possibility of extension, 1 April to 30 June 2021).
Working Conditions :
  • The Education (domain) intern will work full-time in UNICEF Burkina Faso Country Office in Ouagadougou. The intern will work on a computer provided by the office ;
  • Monthly stipend in line with the organization policy and one time lump-sum for travel cost covered by UNICEF Burkina Faso CO.

The successful intern will be governed by the following conditions :

  • Status : Although not considered a staff member of UNICEF, the intern shall be subject to the authority of the Executive Director and the authority delegated by her to Director and Heads of Offices. Interns are not entitled to the privileges and immunities accorded by member states to UNICEF’s officials and staff members ;
  • Financial Support : Interns receive a nominal stipend from UNICEF, and are responsible to arrange for accommodation and transportation to and from the office in Ouagadougou. Travel costs to and from the duty station will be negotiated according UNICEF’s rules and regulations ;
  • Medical Health and Coverage : UNICEF accepts no responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship; therefore, the intern must show proof of valid medical and life/accident insurance for the duty station where they will work ;
  • Visa : Interns are personally responsible for obtaining any required visa, covering the entire period of their internship. If necessary, UNICEF will support the process by providing relevant documents such as the proof of internship ;
  • Confidentiality and Publication of Information: Interns will respect the confidentiality of information that they collect or are exposed to at UNICEF. No reports or papers may be published based on information obtained from UNICEF without the explicit written authorization by the Head of Office ;
  •  Employment Prospects: The UNICEF internship programme is not connected with employment and there is no expectancy of such. Interns cannot apply for posts advertised internally to UNICEF staff during the period of internship.
