Job Description
TGPA is the corporate structure in charge of developing the Gas & Power trading activities in the Asia Pacific area and is in the early stage of its development, staffing or organization. The environment also entails working over extended time zones (Asia, Australia, UK, and France) and the LNG business environment is volatile and competitive.
Within the business unit Trading, the Risk Middle Office Department is in charge of the financial valuation of the Liquefied Natural Gas portfolio and associated market risks. These calculations are performed on a daily basis on the first years to come. Risk middle analysts are based in Geneva, Houston and Singapore.
The Middle Office Intern will work within the LNG team to measure, analyse and monitor the P&L and the market risk exposition. The Middle Office is mainly responsible for calculating profits and losses, managing risks, apprehending the global accuracy of the information present in the trading system and creating reports to analyse the movement of markets (prices, flows…)
The Middle Office Intern is required to:
- Produce and analyse Exposure and Risk reports to monitor the portfolio.
- Calculate the daily P&L changes of the desk.
- Analyse market movements and impact on the risks held by the Trading Desks.
- Work closely with Traders to quantify and explain the sources of risk in their portfolios.
- Collaborate with Paris, Singapore and Houston teams.
- Look for and put in place process improvements
- Be involved in the constant improvement of the risk monitoring framework
- Liaise with IT teams to ensure the enhancement the trading software.
Candidate profile
- Good analysis skills and ability to present complex problems in a precise and concise way
- Interest in commodity trading is a plus
- Ability to think critically about results
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Good knowledge of English is required
- Programming skills (Python, VBA) are optional but preferred.
