Job Description

Associate Manager-Mechanization

ICRISAT seeks application from Indian nationals, for the position of ?Associate Manager-Mechanization ? ICRISAT Development Centre?? to support activities of Global Research Program on Resilient Farm and Food Systems (GRP-RF&FS) on natural resource management. There is a requirement of a position where the incumbents will be based at Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and will report to Global Research Program Director, RF&FS, ICRISAT. As Resilient Farm and Food Systems involved in number of research and development projects towards Natural Resource Management, this position is intended to support Landscape scale activities in the project areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Introducing mechanization component in different Research for Development projects across different landscapes including on-station and on-farm condition.
  • Undertake research trials on various conservation agriculture technologies (e.g., laser land levelling, use of zero-tillage multi crop planter, direct seeded rice, raised bed, mulching, etc.) across different soil types and cropping systems;
  • Guide and supervise field staffs on mechanization component in project locations;
  • Organize hands-on training programs to various stakeholders and field functiona

ries including line department officials on mechanization in project locations;

  • Collect and collate data on the impact of mechanization on soil, water and agronomic parameters
  • Candidate should closely work with farming community and have willingness to travel to different project locations.

Requirements :

  • MSc in soil science or related disciplines with working experience of minimum 10 years
  •  Demonstrated skills on implementing different types of mechanization in different ecologies
  •  Adapt and or develop experimental methods/concepts to support research in farming system design at landscape scale

 General :

This is a contractual position for a period of 36 months.
