This Opportunity 

ICMP is looking for three Team Leaders and three Team Lead Assistants working within three regions of Canada (West, North and Central) to conduct between 10 to 13 community engagement sessions in each region.

The Indigenous Team Leader facilitates the organization and execution of each community session under their responsibility ensuring that elders are invited to participate, opening ceremonies are appropriate and reflect the participants land traditions, facilitates all presentations and question and answer sessions. The Team Leader is responsible to ensure the Forensic Expert and Team Member perform their roles with excellence.

Duties

The Team Leader’s main job duties are the following: 

  • Plan and facilitate engagement sessions with Indigenous communities;
  • Ensure a culturally sensitive and safe environment for Indigenous community members to ask questions and voice their views about a missing persons process in Canada;
  • Disseminate key messages about ICMP and the objectives of the ICMP program.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS  

  • High school diploma; university degree is an asset
  • At least seven years previous related experience
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Attentional to detail and the ability to work under deadlines
  • Knows and understands the importance of observing Indigenous cultural practices and observances from the various regions and how to incorporate it
  • Self-identifying as Indigenous and/or experience living/working with Indigenous peoples and communities
  • Professionally fluency in English, knowledge of French is an asset
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered a strong asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people from various and diverse technical and cultural backgrounds, work experiences, ages and gender
  • Physical and mental resilience, with the ability to operate effectively in deadline driven environments and to manage a heathy work-life equilibrium
  • Willingness and ability to travel to The Netherlands and across Canada (if required), ability to work irregular hours such as in the evenings and on weekends
  • Understanding and commitment to the underlying objective of assisting the authorities and families of the missing in locating and identifying missing persons in an impartial and transparent manner

This is a short-term remote position based in Canada from April to July 2023.
