COUNTRY CONTEXT
Oxfam is a global movement of people, working together and with partners to end the injustice of inequality and poverty. Together, we save, protect, and rebuild lives when disaster strikes. We help people build better lives for themselves, and for others. Oxfam is on a journey to transform itself to be more reflective of the world in which it works and more diverse in its leadership across its global network. This is a project that shapes how Oxfam acts in the world and shares power, both internally and externally, including exploring incorporating into the confederation new national affiliates as independent entities, across regions where it works, including in Africa.
In May 2020, the OI Executive Board decided to pursue affiliation as Oxfam’s future model of presence in the Kenya among other countries and regions to achieve greater global balance within the confederation as a diversified network of locally rooted interdependent organizations. The Kenya affiliation exploration report is out, recommendations made for options to affiliation of Oxfam in Kenya to affiliates, and a road map towards Kenya’s application to become a Prospective Affiliate supported by an affiliation advisory group now in place.
