Job Summary

iMMAP Ethiopia is seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to join our team and develop a centralized humanitarian information platform. The platform is aimed at providing easy access to critical and real-time information for the humanitarian community in Ethiopia. The ideal candidate will work with a team of other developers, designers, and project managers to develop and maintain this platform. The Full Stack Developer’s role is to design and code the front-end features, server-side functions, and back-end database integration for the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a centralized humanitarian information platform, focused on providing easy access to critical and real-time information for the humanitarian community in Ethiopia.
  • Design and develop features for the platform’s front-end, including graphical user interfaces and user experience design.
  • Develop and maintain the platform’s server-side functions, including API integrations and server-side scripting.
  •  Integrate and maintain the back-end database, ensuring data consistency and scalability.
  •  Develop and maintain automated testing and deployment routines, ensuring the platform is always up-to-date and stable.
  • Work with the project managers to develop technical specifications for new features and collaborate with designers on UX/UI design.
  • Ensure the platform is secure and free from vulnerabilities, and work with the team to implement security protocols and ongoing maintenance procedures.
  • Keep up to date with the latest technology trends and provide feedback to the team on potential new features and approaches.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including developers, designers, and project managers, to deliver high-quality work and maintain project timelines.
  • Support Capacity building team in design and implementation of online capacity building training and collaboration modules and activities, using an existing technology platform
  • Work closely with Comms & Design officer to maintain HIST landing page and support other online communications activities
  • Ensure the platform source code, data base script and related documents are kept up to date in iMMAP source code version control system
  • Any other tasks as required by the Senior Country management team

Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role, developing web applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and/or Ruby.
  • Knowledge of web development tools such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Familiarity with database design and administration, specifically with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of API design and development.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining complex web applications.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
