We’re looking for a Caseworker to join our dynamic Refugee Support and Restoring Family Links team in the Manchester area, you will be responsible for delivering casework services for refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in the local area, and you’ll undertake a range of duties designed to develop, maintain and promote the service.

Behind every great cause there’s a great team making everything possible. Our Refugee Support team provides core services to asylum seekers and refugees, including Orientation, Destitution Support including casework, Family Reunion Integration and Travel Assistance.

How you’ll make a difference …

You will support service users to access essential services and become familiar with their local area through the provision of information, advice, advocacy, and practical help. This will involve supporting people in crisis situations, such as those at risk of or experiencing homelessness and destitution. You will work with service users to help them assess their needs, identify personal goals and develop and implement casework action plans.

Reporting to the Casework Coordinator, you will work with people of all ages, depending on the casework requirements at the time; this includes single adults and families

This role could be for you if…

You’re knowledgeable; you’ll have an understanding of issues affecting refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants. Ideally, you’ll have casework experience.

You’re a team player; you’re able to work as part of a team within what can sometimes be a high-pressure environment.

You’re a strong communicator with the ability to adapt your communication based on the audience and have experience in providing sensitive, safe, and empowering support to people in vulnerable situations.

You have strong IT and organisational skills. You are confident using Microsoft office packages, databases, and spreadsheet packages

You’re able to plan, deliver and evaluate casework appointments – and to adapt them to the diverse needs of a group of people.

Previous experience of working with asylum seekers and refugees would be advantageous. As would the ability to speak a language widely spoken by the refugee/ asylum community would be useful.
