1. Objective of the assignment
Provide overall support in the implementation of the project to promote the use of the intellectual property system as a source of financing by entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Central America and the Dominican Republic under the COVID-19 package.
The ICS will ensure the effective implementation of the project, participate in discussion sessions along the project, oversee other ICS deliverables and communicate with WIPO and the member states as needed.
2. Deliverables/services
(a) Complete the template of Intermediary Institutions with contact details of selected people who will follow the training no later than 5 days following the reception of the information by the Focal Points of each Member State part of this project.
(b) Contribute to the design of the training program on IP management and financing for the selected intermediary institutions in collaboration with the WIPO Academy, no later than July 31, 2023.
(c) Keep track of the progress of the adaptation of the WIPO series of Guides and provide feedback every 15 days.
(d) Support in the coordination of bilateral meetings between the IP and e-commerce expert and the 70 MSMEs and attend the meetings during the practical exercise component.
(e) Draft a report of the bilateral meetings to inform WIPO of the progress and the methodology no later than 5 days following the meeting.
(f) Design a survey to assess the project’s success no later than December 31, 2023.
3. Reporting
The ICS shall report the progress of the implementation on a monthly basis via email to the Director with copy to the Assistant of the IP for Business Division of WIPO
In addition to the monthly report, the ICS shall attend and take notes of every meeting and report no later than one week after the meeting along with the completed templates.
Work products shall be in English and Spanish.
4. Profile (e.g. area of specialization/expertise, specific knowledge/skills/experience)
• At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in project design management and implementation at an International level.
• Ability to cope with overlapping deadlines and deliver high quality outputs under time pressure.
• Availability to work at Central American time and attend meetings in CA time zone
• Strong reporting, data management and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural, multiethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
• Excellent level of English and Spanish.
5. Duration of contract and payment
The contractor will provide its services full time for a duration of 6 months. Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (daily rate).
