Job Summary:
· The key purpose of this position is to assist and support program communication needs of PAD Project.
· Implement the org anization’s communication and advocacy strategy in consultation with the COP.
Essential Functions:
· Supports the design, implementation and monitoring of project communication strategy.
· Write, contribute and edit quarterly, semi-annual reports, annual reports, fact sheets, success stories, press releases and other communication materials.
· Edit & review staff communications and reports as required.
· In conjunction with technical staff, coordinate and participate in regular field visits to document project activities and results. This includes developing a photo and video database to accompany articles and document project success.
· Represent project at meetings and events as required.
· Communicate with Winrock’s Home Office communications staff, as applicable.
· Assist in vendor selection, management, and quality control for procurement of communication materials and services.
· Designs and implements media campaign for PAD activities and develops effective relations with media personnel.
· Co-organize training workshops, seminars, events, meetings of project.
· Prepares various written reports, drafts section of studies, e-briefings and case studies.
· In accordance with program team, prepares PAD new letters, brochures and other publicity materials.
· Supports program team in development and printing of training material and training guide.
Other Functions:
· Any other duties assigned by the management.
Minimum Qualification:
· Education: University Degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or a closely related discipline.
· A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably as a journalist or media or communication officer. Experience of working with donor funded projects, especially familiarity with USDA/USAID toolkits will have an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements:
· Knowledge of current theories and practices in communication research, planning and strategy, and the role of mass media.
· Knowledge of how to present information to different audiences, including general public, media and USDA officials.
· Proven writing, editing, design, videography, or photography skills.
· Demonstrated skill in program communication, development of information and Communication material.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
· Ability to produce analytical and well-presented reports and publications.
· A proven ability to effectively manage relationships with media representatives, government officials, community groups and consortium partners.
· Skills in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point; Desktop Publisher and E-mail is required.
