The Opportunity
This is an exciting time at NetHope as the organization develops programs and services in collaboration with Members and partners. Working with the team of staff and expert consultants, the Curriculum Development Manager will lead NetHope’s design of trainings across a wide spectrum of subject matter.
Curriculum Development Manager
NetHope is seeking and experienced, organized, and enthusiastic professional to increase the number of trainings it supports to its Members, partners, and external entities. As NetHope aspires to provide first class trainings across various delivery means (synchronous, asynchronous, and in-person) and thematic areas within the international humanitarian, development, and conservation digital transformation umbrella, we are seeking a curriculum designer with experience throughout the design to implementation process. They need to have a visionary approach to the possibilities of building a training portfolio that will impact the nonprofit and for-profit development environment through a better understanding of how, why, and who, and be able to ensure consistent and quality digital practices.
NetHope aspires to grow both online and in-person training offerings to allow more individuals globally to engage in focused learning regarding information technology, proven digital practices, connectivity, and its’ applicable uses in the humanitarian and nonprofit sector. We also have a wide breadth of internal and external trainings that would further benefit our staff and the greater NetHope Membership. Currently NetHope offers various trainings to Members, partners, and collaborators within disaster response, digital protection, cyber security, and various other thematic sectors that would benefit from renewed efforts to ensure adult learning techniques are incorporated. Both current and to be developed courses, need to be migrated onto our newly acquired LMS.
This position will work remotely to support staff across NetHope with the development and implementation of trainings and will report to the Senior Director of Field and Impact Programs while working closely with the Training Manager, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting the creation of online and in-person courses across a wide range of thematic sectors;
- Creating scripts, accompanying slide decks, facilitator notes, and module tests/checks on learning;
- While the first year of training development will focus on professional products that are a.) branded appropriately b.) complement each other & c.) provide a quality, adult learner experience, the goal is to have these made into videos (with animation) in subsequent years;
- Develop a clear process of providing curriculum support to NetHope staff that ensures equitable access with clear expectations along an agreed upon timeline;
- Map out and prioritize curriculum development needs while working across various projects during the course of the day, week, or month;
- Coordinate with NetHope staff and subject matter experts (SMEs) to support curriculum design and development from the conception to pre-production phases;
- Conduct research and collect and curate relevant learning resources;
- Regularly report to the project manager on the status of the curriculum and projects;
- Craft measurable learning objectives and coordinate expected evaluations with NetHope’s MEAL Specialist;
- Outline curriculum, including content for asynchronous and synchronous sessions;
- Write scripts for the asynchronous video portion of the curriculum;
- Design and curate learner engagement strategies for the asynchronous video portion of the curriculum (offline assignments, reference materials, quizzes);
- Create supplementary learning resources including but not limited to learner workbooks, case studies, and slide decks;
- Create facilitators guides for engaging synchronous sessions, including those designed for in-person and remote facilitation;
- Create tests and/or surveys for participants to confirm that they have completed the training or have the knowledge needed;
- Manage official certification of the training and design badges for LinkedIn for example;
- Support with translation of the training materials to other languages than English when needed.

Knowledge and Skills
- Exceptional curriculum development skills;
- Demonstrated success in planning and implementing trainings to adult learners;
- Multilingual verbal and written communication skills a plus;
- Excellent writing skills and native proficiency in English;
- Ability to write in a range of different styles: academic, business, conversational, and technical;
- Experience designing and developing adult learning curriculum including writing learning objectives, facilitator guides, and scripts applying adult learning principles;
- Experience translating theoretical concepts into easily understood language using real-life and contextual examples and case studies;
- Previous experience working internationally;
- Precision, accuracy, attention to detail, and patience;
- Proficiency in using Microsoft, Kaya (or comparable LMS platforms);
- Preference for degree in Education, Instructional Design or another relevant field;
- Experience in producing training materials for technical trainings preferred.
Education and Experience
- Experience using an LMS.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in training and/or curriculum development. Experience in a virtual environment a must.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred or equivalent work experience
- NetHope Member experience highly valued, other NGO experience a plus.
