Position Purpose:

The Technical Assistant will perform a wide variety of administrative and technical assignments pertaining to the AGYW SI Project which seeks to support the South African government and its key stakeholders to address HIV Prevention and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) unmet needs of AGYW by enhancing HIV/SRH system integration and readiness. As such the role will include, but not limited to assisting with the development and implementation of country workplans. It will also comprise organizing meetings and workshops or trainings and even facilitating these meetings where permissible. The position will report directly to the AGYW project Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct stakeholder mapping, update and manage Jhpiego’s stakeholder database.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of country workplans.
  • Plan and organize consultative and or capacity building workshops/training/events and liaise closely with key relevant stakeholders for logistics purposes.
  • Update training database including follow-up of trainees to track progress post training.
  • Attend programme related internal and external meetings.
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and QA tools.
  • Assist in the development of all relevant resources/materials i.e. training, mentorship and capacity building materials for health care providers.
  • Assist with the facilitation of Human Centered Design (HCD) workshops to co-design sessions with AGYW and other beneficiaries (male partners, parents and families) to understand, and create and test solutions.
  • Develop and deliver presentations.
  • Ensure the dissemination of relevant documents,
  • Assist in the design and implementation of south-to-south learning network.
  • Provide regular updates to line manager and key relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Report writing
  • Perform any other administrative duties related to the project.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in community development/public health/social development/any other relevant qualification;
  • Minimum 3 years working as a programme assistant/facilitator/coordinator/officer;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in youth development/women and girls/ HIV/ health project (Highly recommended);
  • Proven understanding and familiarity with systems and structures of a complex, fast-moving office environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage several major activities simultaneously;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications;
  • Experience writing reports;
  • Excellent verbal, written interpersonal and presentation skills in English;
  • Ability to work independently in an unstructured environment as well as with a team;
  • Experience working in donor-funded NGOs, government and global organizations preferred;
  • Driver’s license;
  • Ability to travel nationally for meetings, workshops, trainings and or events.
