TOTAL recruits a Mining Solutions & Portfolio Development Manager in South Africa

Job Description

The B2B Mining team currently seeks to appoint a Mining Solutions & Portfolio Development Manager!

HSEQ

You will ensure compliance to HSEQ and security standards, local by-laws, legislation regarding the protection of life, environment and minimize risk to company assets

STRATEGY

  • You will contribute to the sales and market penetration strategy development as well as new business model development
  • Ensure effective management of all mining business models
  • You will be involved in the landscape mapping, risk and opportunity identification in the market
  • Identify the new needs and expectations of the industry
  • Investigate, propose solutions and opportunities for investment with special attention to new business
  • Define customer segmentation and identify viable solutions
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers and develop retention strategies for existing business
  • Collaborate with the B2B Marketing Manager and develop marketing initiatives and campaigns that promote brand awareness and presence in the industry


TENDERS AND CONTRACTS

  • You will organise site visits prior to offer submission with internal stakeholders (supply, transport, engineering HSEQ and logistics)
  • Challenge and verify with internal stockholders input on feasibility costs and schedules
  • Managing clients’ and internal stakeholders’ expectations in preparation of supply, installations take over and on boarding
  • Construct profitable tailor-made offers for clients, also managing their expectations, TSA’s capabilities and internal stakeholder’s input
  • Manage the internal validation process of offers as per Total’s governance rules 
  • Provide input for budget planning on new volumes, operating income and CAPEX
  • Negotiating, drafting and closing contracts in the interest of Total

 FINANCE

  • You will deliver on budget commitments for business development
  • Compile the post investment analysis for investments and projects reports
  • Report on the profitability of contracts, investments and projects against the base line assumptions
  • Participate in compiling budgets and long-term plans
KEY ACCOUNTS MANAGEMENT

  • You need to develop strategic relationships with Mining Houses
  • Recommend and promote Total Mining solutions key customers
  • Support the Regional Sales Managers in developing and managing relationships with mining houses at head office level
  • Ensure swift resolution of contract related queries at head office level.
  • Promote digital tools to clients and project manage implementation


COMPETITOR & MARKET INTELLIGENCE

  • Develop and maintain an opportunities pipeline per region
  • Develop and administer SALSA hosted prospects database containing relevant market intelligence


SOLUTIONS & SERVICES

  • You are required to compile the Total Mining Solutions catalogue
  • Participate in the design and implementation of innovative solutions jointly with the Strategy, Technical, Logistics, Procurement and Corporate Affairs
  • Build tailor made solutions with our service providers to meet our clients’ current and future needs


CLIENT ON-BOARDING

  • You will manage the on-boarding process of new clients
  • You will ensure that internal stakeholders deliver on contractual requirements  
  • You will be responsible for training sales teams on contractual commitments

GENERAL ACTIVITIES

  • You will be the brand ambassador for Total in the mining market
  • Grow the mining portfolio through new business development  
  • Develop new prospects and opportunities’ pipeline for the mining business
  • Drive product and services development for our mining clients
  • Drive innovative projects that improve customer experience, process efficiency and services
  • Manage our presence at mining indabas and other conferences
  • Develop and maintain a database of operating mines and market intelligence
  • Increase Total’s listings as a supplier in the mining industry.

 

Context and environment

The growing mining market constitutes a large downstream business in the geographical scope. Total South Africa is a known player with high market share and further growth potential. The market is extremely volatile due to dependencies on commodity prices, changing legislations and customer requirements

 

Candidate profile

  • You hold a Business or engineering degree
  • It is essential that you have a minimum 10 years’ experience in the oil industry in a similar role
  • Sound understanding of analysing and interpreting financial statements is essential
  • You need to have excellent business acumen, negotiation, analytical and presentation skills
  • You need to have strong commercial and critical thinking skills
  • Your experience in negotiating commercial contracts with good understanding of legal aspects will see you succeed in this role
  • English as business language, French will be an added benefit
