Expressions of interest are being requested for a Junior Consultant Position
Brief description of the Assignment : JUNIOR RISK MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT to support to the quantitative risk analysis function of the Private Sector Facility, and also conduct research and modeling services. The Consultant will lead the interface with the information technology and risk departments in respect of implementation of the PSF’s portfolio and risk dashboard, and assist the PSF team with eligibility reviews of proposed transactions for PSF cover.

Terms of Reference-Junior Consultant, PSF
- Introduction / Background :
The Private Sector Credit Enhancement Facility (PSF), hosted by the Financial Resources Mobilization Department (FIRM) of the African Development Bank (ADB), seeks to recruit a Junior Consultant to support financial risk analysis and reporting activities of the Facility as outlined below.
- Objectives of the Assignment :
The Junior Consultant shall undertake, in close collaboration with the PSF team, the following main tasks :
- Computing and maintaining portfolio analytics ;
- Data reconciliation and systems maintenance ;
- Monitoring and reporting on PSF treasury and liquidity indicators ;
- Contributing to quarterly and annual reporting activities of the PSF ;
- Computing key risk metrics and assessing the credit risk embedded in the PSF portfolio ;
- Development of pricing methodologies for the PSF re-guarantee mechanisms ;
- Work in close collaboration with the PSF Technical Team to support PSF activities ;
- Contribute to the preparation of briefs and technical notes; and
- Ad hoc requests as required.
- Administration/reporting :
The Consultant will work under the overall guidance of the PSF Administrator (PSFA), and in collaboration with the PSF Technical Team. The Junior Consultant activities will comprise of two types of products: technical outputs as well as administrative outputs. Technical outputs will include- among others- the support in development and maintenance of systems and financial models, portfolio reports production, contributions to PSF recommendations to the ADF Board and Management as well as periodic reports. In terms of administrative deliverables, the Consultant will produce monthly activity reports and timesheets, comprising a review of deliverables undertaken and planned for the forthcoming period.
- Duration of the assignment :
The Consultant will be hired for six (6) months renewable once over satisfactory performance and paid monthly, based on the schedule and conditions to be negotiated. In addition, a return economy class ticket, via the shortest route will be provided for candidates who need to travel to take up the assignment. Candidates will be responsible for obtaining personal health insurance at their own cost.
- Qualifications and Experience required
The ideal candidate will :
- Have a postgraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics or related fields with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience ;
- S/he should be under 32 years of age ;
- Have a high level of quantitative, modeling, financial and business skills, and solid practical experience, preferably in Africa ;
- Experience in International Institution will be highly regarded ;
- Be a self-starter, with the ability to produce quality outputs to tight and sometimes conflicting deadlines, and to develop sound analytical frameworks and reports with limited supervision ;
- Competence in the use of Microsoft standard software (Word, Advanced Excel level, VBA, and PowerPoint, etc) ;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills – fluent in English or French and working knowledge of the other.

- Remuneration :
The successful candidate will receive remuneration in line with the Bank’s guidelines on remuneration of Junior Consultants. The Consultant will also be granted leave in line with the Bank’s leave policy for Consultants.
