In line with national priorities, UNICEF work in Egypt focuses on Early Childhood Development bridging the first 1000 days through the first years of formal education, as a key means by which multiple threats to children may be addressed through cross-sectoral linkages. The expected results of UNICEF’s work in Egypt will contribute to national efforts and priorities and the 2030 National Sustainable Development Strategy; as well as the United Nations Partnership for Development Framework.
How can you make a difference?
Under the general supervision and guidance of the Chief (Private Sector & Partnerships), the specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of Egypt Country Office (ECO) Generation Unlimited strategic plan and will be responsible for launching and operationalizing Generation Unlimited in Egypt. The Partnership Specialist will oversee the creation of a multi-sectoral partnership platform as well as manage, sustain and maintain long-term partnerships with Government counterparts, NGO partners, Youth networks and business sector partners.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities :
Support the development and coordination of Generation Unlimited in Egypt :
- Support advocacy efforts with Government, Private sector, UN agencies, and youth organizations in support of GenU in Egypt ;
- Develop a multi-sectoral platform with Government, private sector, UN agencies, youth organizations and NGOs in preparation for the launch of GenU in Egypt ;
- Coordinate the development and implementation of the youth investment agenda for Egypt ;
- Represent UNICEF in meetings with key partners to advocate and promote GenU’s vision, goals and objectives; as well as supporting the development of the communication strategy and brand identity for GenU in Egypt ;
- Coordinate the GenU initiative internally within UNICEF at country level, regional level as well as Headquarters.
Support the operationalization of the Generation Unlimited platform in Egypt through acquiring, cultivating and retaining partners and supporters :
- Identifying, approaching and negotiating relationships with key influencers and businesses to achieve results for Adolescents and youth through financial and non-financial contributions ;
- Mobilize partners to promote large-scale evidence based investment in GenU ;
- Support the creation of a GenU Steering committee for Egypt in coordination with Government of Egypt, youth, business sector and NGOs ;
- Coordinate the launch of GenU in Egypt with high level participation by key partners ;
- Manage the partnership in Egypt, Coordinate the development of a joint workplan with multi-sectoral platform and act as the secretariat until the creation of a secretariat at the Ministerial level.
To qualify as a champion for every child you will have……
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in one of the following fields is required : Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, International relations / International Development or another relevant technical field ;
- Alternatively, a first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in combination with 10 years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree ;
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in private sector fundraising is required, with progressively increasing responsibilities, including direct responsibility for setting and meeting income targets ;
- Experience in, and knowledge of, the country context is an asset ;
- Relevant marketing experience will be considered as contributing to this work experience ;
- Strong knowledge of the private sector in Egypt ;
- International fundraising experience is an asset ;
- Previous managerial experience is essential ;
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required
Specific Technical Knowledge Required :
- Ability to contribute to effective long-term strategic partnerships and to coordinate multi-sectoral platforms ;
- Ability to implement clear goals ;
- Ability to identify and seize new partnership opportunities, formulating new strategies and models that are fit for purpose ;

- Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
