The UNICEF Internship Programme offers qualified and eligible students at both Headquarters (HQ) and Country Offices (CO) the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF’s work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

To be considered for an internship with UNICEF, applicants must meet the following requirements :

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme; and
  • Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF’s working languages: English, French, Spanish. Russian, Mandarin or Arabic. Additional language requirements may apply;  and
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.

 

How can you make a difference?

The Emergency section in Goma is responsible for coordination and oversight of emergency programme in the Eastern part of UNICEF DRC. It coordinates emergency preparedness and response and manages rapid response programmes to displacement and cholera.

The internship is to provide support on reporting, research and analysis for emergency programme carried out by UNICEF.

Under the supervision of the Emergency Specialist, Goma, the intern will :

  • Assisting the section in matters of context analysis for each priority zone with the aim of developing tailored humanitarian programming in DRC ;
  • Assisting in reviewing emergency related documents such as situation reports, donor reports, partnership agreements with partners and emergency preparedness plan ;
  • Assisting on ongoing research to improve quality of rapid response programmes.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A first-level university degree in international relations, political science and public administration ;
  • Fluency in French and English is required ;
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office is required ;
  • Experience in research and analytical writing is required ;
  • Experience in humanitarian assistance is an asset ;
  • Flexibility and the ability to assist with a variety of task based on the needs of the section
