Under the supervision of the Partnerships Manager, the Partnerships Specialist will support the management, and carry out his/her tasks in close cooperation with the programme sections, to deepen organization collaboration with key stakeholders.

 

Duties and responsibilities :

The main responsibilities of the Partnerships Specialist will include :

  1. In collaboration with the programme sections, conduct donor report quality control by reviewing and editing contents to ensure conformity with the proposal, in regards to funding allocation and utilization, planned activities and results and visibility, based on the agreements, donor conditionalities, and global guidance. Ensure timely submission of donor reports ;
  2. Identify and pursue outreach and engagement opportunities, and in coordination with programme sections, contribute to the development of donor engagement materials to enhance UNICEF’s visibility and influence with existing and prospective partners and key stakeholders. Develop advocacy tools and donor briefing materials for policy influence by formulating recommendations for strategic approaches and message development ;
  3. Enhance donor relations through preparation of meetings, developing advocacy materials, briefing notes and background materials for donor visits and supporting field offices during missions in collaboration with the Communications and programme sections ;
  4. Develop concept notes and funding proposals for fundraising. Ensure regular exchange of information with donors and strengthen donor recognition in collaboration with field offices and sections. Working closely with the Communication section, review visibility and advocacy materials, including human interest stories ;
  5. Analyse external environment for opportunities and risks and develop/update and implement the Resource Mobilization Strategy and the Partner Engagement Plan. Provide strategic support and advice to the senior management and the partnerships unit in engagement and interaction with existing and potential donors, working with UNICEF programme sections ;
  6. Contribute to the development of the resource mobilization training to improve staff capacity on fundraising, reporting and knowledge management ;
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the team, including guiding and coaching staff as needed.

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education : Advanced university degree in International Relations, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or related field. A first University Degree with relevant work experience of 10 years may be accepted in lieu of Advanced University Degree.

Work Experience :

  • Minimum of eight years practical professional work experience in partnerships, external relations, reporting or related field ;
  • Strong demonstrated experience in partnerships required. Proven ability to synthesize and powerfully convey messages and good knowledge and understanding of UNICEF programmatic work and principles will be an advantage ;
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with close attention to detail ;
  • Solid experience in the usage of computers and office software programmes and experience in handling web-based management systems ;
  • International and national work experience required ;
  • Background/familiarity with emergency situations would be an asset
    Language Proficiency : Fluency in English and French. Knowledge of the local working language is an asset
