The CLEAN-AIR (Africa) Global Health Research Group is a consortium of researchers established in 2018 through funding from the UK National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). The consortium consists of partners from Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Norway, USA and the UK, and is hosted by the University of Liverpool.

Job Title: Research Fieldworkers
Number of slots available: 8
Job Location: Douala III, IV, or V
Contract Duration: 3 Months
Start Date: 1st April 2021
   

Major Roles and responsibilities include

  • Traveling to field sites to collect and record data and/or samples as appropriate to the specific objectives of the study.
  • Coding and data verification in accordance with the research protocol and coding procedures.
  • Data entry into a computer database and/or spreadsheet application for subsequent analysis.
  • Developing or assisting in the development of interview schedules; – contacting potential subjects to introduce and explain study objectives and protocol, and arranging interviews, either in person or by telephone.
  • Identifying and compiling lists of potential research subjects in accordance with the study objectives and parameters.
  • Conducting and recording face-to-face and/or telephone interviews with subjects, in accordance with predetermined interview protocol, data collection procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Reviewing and editing data to ensure completeness and accuracy of information; follows up with subjects to resolve problems or clarify data collected.
  • May set up, calibrate, and maintain laboratory and/or field research equipment, as specified by the requirements of the study.

Diplomas/ Studies/ Experience

Bachelors degree in field related to science, medical science or social science

Community Health work (malaria campaign, vaccination campaign, HIV sensitization, filaria campaign, tuberculosis campaign, etc…)

Required Skills

  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in both French and English
  • Skill in identifying and recruiting research subjects.
  • Interviewing and data collection skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply specified field and/or laboratory research procedures and protocols.
  • Computer data entry skills.
  • Skill in the use of computer spreadsheet and/or database applications in the compilation of research data.
  • Ability to evaluate, verify, and edit research data.
