Duties and Responsibilities :

UNV reaches out to diverse audiences through its websites and social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. External audiences are made up of our UN partners, donor partners, civil society organizations (including Volunteer Involving Organizations), media (through traditional and online channels), and the general global public.

The responsibilities of the Senior Editor and Writer include:

  • Work with the Communications team to implement, strengthen and support editorial plans which will support the goals of the organization;
  • Support development of editorial content around UN international days, assisting with writing and editing of field articles, speeches and messaging documents as needed. Focus is on researching and writing content about the impact of UNV and UN Volunteers and to publicize and promote their work with other UN partners and Member States;
  • Develop innovative written content for all UNV corporate communications needs as needed, including reviewing reports and web content.
Required Skills and Experience
Min. Academic Education Master’s degree in journalism, international relations or any field related to UN work.
Min. years of relevant Work experience Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international levels in communications, public relations and journalistic writing in English at publishing level.
Required  skills and competencies -Experience in journalistic writing on development within a UN agency;
-Experience publishing for web;
-Experience writing reports for international organizations;

–Strong research abilities and strong interest and knowledge of global events;

-Experience using Drupal and other publishing software (such as Exposure).
Desired additional skills and competencies -Previous experience working for the UN is an advantage.
Required Language(s) (at working level) -Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
