Job Description
Development Strategy (interface, analysis, synthesis, solutions definition, validation process leader, Economics and Finance)
- Coordinate with the TEPBr Development Manager the preparation of the Development strategy of the Operated Assets which implies synthetic knowledge obtained through regular contacts with:
- Geosciences Departments: to include the surface aspects (technical, schedule, risks …) into their analysis to get realistic profiles, to help validating each proposed well/project and have a follow up vision of the reserves of the assets,
- Field Operations: to get an accurate knowledge of the producing capacities and specificities in order to propose the best solutions for development extensions.
- Project and Wells: to have a good knowledge of the durations, costs, risks/opportunities to be considered in the development studies.
With this broad knowledge, build the solutions and propose them to the Management for their validation.
- For the OA Division, manage the preparation of the Planning, Budget, TCM as well as the regulatory exercises (FDP, PAT-PAP) by leading the work, fixing the deadlines and controlling the coherency of the outputs of the different disciplines.
- Analyze results from Economics, propose Sensitivities, to evaluate the economic performance of each Project and present the results to Operated Asset Manager.
- Lead the analysis and preparation of a synthetic comparison of the different exercises (Planning, Budget, Reserves ….) and JV committees (TCM, OCM). Prepare documents to illustrate this analysis and answer any question from Management on the evolution and on the historical justifications of the choices made.
- Be the referent for the OA of the Capex part of the Budget. Liaise with the Finance and Tax Departments to control the good application of specific elements (Repetro, IFRS16, PIS/COFINS, ICMS, …) in the Costs.
- Follow-up with Cost Control Service the evolution of the consumption of the Budget of OA Division. Follow-up the Head count of the OA Division and the corresponding input in its G&A.
- Prepare with Finance the Performance Reviews and specific SOX controls.
- Delegate and supervise the OA Development Engineer on assessing the Value creation/improvement brought by the development studies, reviewing economics and challenging assumptions. Put in practice the Manager Coach approach to develop the personal under his responsibility.
- Organize the recruitment of a possible Development Trainee/Intern by defining a Job Description, conducting the interviews and integrate him in the Development Department being in charge of his objectives and his follow-up.
Integrated Planning (forward looking, structured vision of complex Projects, synthesis)
- In charge of the planning aspects of the OA Division. Coordinate the gathering of all information from OA to be included in the Integrated Activity Planning of the Affiliate. Liaise with the Integrated Planning team of the Affiliate to ensure the updated information is included.
- Coordinate with the Asset Planner the activities in order to validate the information used and to detect the potential clashes or issues.
- Keep the history of the operation plannings (drilling, installation, projects) with the underlying explanations.
Studies and Projects (compliance with technical referential, organization, leadership, knowledge of Group validation process)
- Ensure compliance of the development studies of the OA in the strict follow-up of the Technical Referential that guarantees a safe design.
- Apply the principles of the Conceptual Integrity
- Organize and lead the reviews in order to ensure that the well productions, the costs (Capex, Opex, and Abandonment) and the schedules considered in the cost tables are in line with the actual information from the ongoing or just terminated projects.

- Ensure compliance of the development studies of the OA in the strict follow-up of the Technical Referential that guarantees a safe design.
- Apply the principles of the Conceptual Integrity
- Organize and lead the reviews in order to ensure that the well productions, the costs (Capex, Opex, and Abandonment) and the schedules considered in the cost tables are in line with the actual information from the ongoing or just terminated projects.
- Lead Cost and Schedule reviews needed for the Planning, Budget or Reserves exercises.
- Take an active part in the preparation of the validation process (committees in different levels) of the development Projects.
- Follow-up of the punch lists of the completed project(s), as well as the corresponding budget.
Documentation
- Keep an up-to-date version of the strategic documents of OA Division (cost tables, results of economics, TCM-OCM presentations, MoM and rationales). Deliver the necessary reports for the Management, the Partners and the Headquarters. In particular, lead the weekly reporting process of the OA.
Context and environment
Position holder is located in Rio de Janeiro, in subsidiary offices. The position requires developing significant transverse communication with other TEPBr entities, with Partners and with TOTAL HQ. He has to be skilled about local regulatory commitments.
Candidate profile
- Education: Engineer Degree or equivalent in Petroleum or equivalent (Mechanical, Project…)
- Professional experience: Experience in the O&G activity with an extensive knowledge in reservoir-well performance or drilling or field operations or project management. Validated experience of integration of Economics and Finance/Tax aspects into Projects.
- Technical competencies, skills: HSE value integration, O&G extensive experience and culture. Very good knowledge of the communication tools. Autonomy in work organization, rigor to produce validated results/information, sensitivity to innovation. Used to deliver analysis and synthesis and demonstrated ability to present in a clear way his work. Proven past experience on leading Planning, Budget or Reserves, BAR, PAT/PAP exercises
- Behavioral competencies: Good communication skills, networking and delivery through others. Leadership in transversal mode way of working. Capacity to adapt and manage various tasks of different natures in various configurations. Recognized listening skills, respect of the other integrated in his natural way of team management. Supervision skills.
- Other competencies: Proficient in English. French and Portuguese is an asset in the local environment.
