AGRO PROCESSING SPECIALIST

  1. The Government of Angola has received Financing from the African Development Bank in various currencies towards the cost of the Cabinda Province Agriculture Value Chains Development Project and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this loan to payments under the contract for Agro-Processing Specialist ;
  1. The services included under this project are consultancy services to conduct an assessment of the constraints on the agro-processing business and to develop a roadmap and strategy for modernizing the agro-processing industry ;
  1. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry now invites eligible (individual) consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills, etc.) ;
  1. The duration of this assignment is two (2) years based in Cabinda, with the possibility of extension upon satisfactory performance ;
  2. The Agro-Processing Specialist must have :

Minimum Academic/Professional Qualifications :

At least Bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, marketing or business management. Master’s degree in one these areas is added advantage.

Minimum Experience : At least 5 years’ experience in farm planning and economic analysis with extensive experience in small to medium scale agro-enterprise management. He/ She will have extensive practical experience in the domestic agro-processing industry. Experience with externally funded development programs would be desirable, preferably with experience in market-oriented projects.

Abilities :

  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and to plan, co-ordinate, monitor, and report on his or her own work plan ;
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines ;
  • Self-motivated, team player, able to work in a post-conflict environment with minimum supervision ;
  • Willingness to work in rural settings.

Skills :

  • Excellent interpersonal and community outreach skills ;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Portuguese ;
  • Excellent reporting skills ;
  • Computer literacy with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Knowledge :

  • Familiarity with results-based management ;
  • Working knowledge of the operational modalities for national and international NGOs (desirable).

Please, note that interest expressed by a Consultant does not imply any obligation on the part of the African Development Bank to include him/her in the final shortlist ;

Interested Consultants shall provide information on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to undertake this Assignment (CVs, reference to similar services, experience in similar assignments, etc.).
