Position: Senior Public Engagement Specialist
Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Salary Range: 970 USD-1,455 USD
I. THE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Senior Public Engagement Officer plays a critical role in developing, managing, producing and writing high quality, compelling contents to position World Vision Cambodia as a premiere child-focused development agency to the public, donors, media and other identified key stakeholders in the country and internationally.
The role holder will build on World Vision’s strong and trusted reputation in Cambodia, based on evidence from field programming and experience. The Senior Public Engagement Officer will also amplify WVI-C’s advocacy and Local fundraising campaigns through strategic digital and media engagement plans.
The Senior Public Engagement Officer also performs a crucial role in mitigating reputational risks by working proactively with the in-country and regional risk management and communications teams. The Senior Public Engagement Officer will also provide-s direct and proactive support to humanitarian affairs and emergency responses.
II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop national media engagement plan to position World Vision as the child leading organisation in Cambodia by developing written contents, media engagement materials
- Provide quality assurance of all products that will be distributed and posted on website by proofreading and alignment with global guidelines
- With an in-depth knowledge of Community Development and strong critical thinking, proactively manage the development of an annual portfolio of publication and collaterals that build public engagement, awareness and trust in World Vision Cambodia
- Coordinating and aligning where possible, WVI-C internal & external communications to align and improve the cut through, clarity and understanding of WVI-C’s identify and key messages
- Manage Disaster Communications such as mitigate organisation risk through effective risk communications preparedness, prepare media statement,FAQS, key messages
- Take a lead on any emergency / HEA events, advising on communications and content
- Lead capacity building to staff on spokeperson training and key message delivery
III. REQUIREMENTS:
- University Degree in Social Sciences, Journalism, Humanities, International Relations, Development Studies, Communications or its equivalent, a post graduate qualification is a plus
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills (Khmer and English)
- Think strategically on behalf of the organisation and with an understanding of World Visions ministry, ways of working and functional roles. And know how to say and what to say on behalf of the organisation
- A demonstrated commitment to serving others and alignment to WV values
- Understanding of policy analysis and engagement processes and be able to sharpen organisation’s key messages
- Influencing skill is key to media engagement work
- Ability to develop and manage a multi-disciplinary portfolio
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and achieve outcomes.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in working with media and in public relations, advocacy and campaigns
- Advanced level of computer proficiency and familiarity with design software and technologies such as photoshop
- Experience in managing internal intranet sites is Preferred
