About the role:
The aim of the Head of Data Platform role is to deliver a new enterprise data platform enabling a step change in reporting, customer and operational analytics, and personalisation. Key function of the role will be to align business needs to investment roadmap, successfully deliver the roadmap, and provision stable and reliable platforms.
Success of the role will be championing the use of enterprise data platform and modern technology for a positive impact on both revenue and operational performance of the enterprise by supplying the right data, at the right quality and time, while working within the strategy, architecture and technical environment set out by peers in the Technology function.
Key Accountabilities:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Work across the enterprise to establish the data needs of the organisation
- Develop an investment and technology roadmap with the Strategy and Architecture team to address data needs
- Maintain ongoing alignment with business units on priorities as they change, and work with the IT portfolio manager to set prioritises within IT
- Deliver the roadmap and continuous improvement initiatives on time, on budget and on scope. Project portfolio sizing may vary from $10 to $20m per annum
- Proactively identify and resolve project delivery issues and work with business and IT teams to resolve them. This will be in conjunction with IT project governance team
- Ensure project management disciplines are followed and the right level of delivery capability is deployed in the right project
- Provision stable, reliable, and secure platforms
- Work with Infrastructure and support team to ensure consistent process as followed
- Ensure ongoing problems are identified and resolved or projects are planned to correct underlying issues
- Manage and forecast complex operational budgets with a plan to reduce ongoing costs year on year
- Own all partner relationships and contract adherence, with the support of procurement
- Work collaboratively with IT partners and suppliers to ensure services and service levels are delivered as agreed
- Ensure all team members complete mandatory training applicable to their roles (including Safety, Security, Resilience and, Health and Wellbeing)
- Ensure adherence to Virgin Australia Risk Management Framework (RMF) and adopt a proactive approach to the timely identification of operational and corporate risk and work to mitigate, resolve and escalate as required
Key Requirements:
The successful candidate for this role will require:
- 10 years’ work experience preferably within IT primarily focused in digital and customer focused domains
- Project management experience (+$10m) and ability to lead complex programs of work
- Experience developing C-level relationship and resolving conflict and prioritisation challenges.
- Proven history of driving data enable transformation in a dynamic and complex operating environment
- Forward thinking with a passion for process improvement, software optimization and process standardization
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists
- Demonstrated leader with strategic influencing skills, strong decision making, negotiating and conflict resolution skills, effective relationship building skills and strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to provide strategic leadership to identify and create commercially viable technology roadmaps
- Expertise in identifying customer needs and building delivery plans that add value to the business outcomes
- Sound understanding of the evolving digital world on both the demand side (how people/companies are using technology) and the supply side (emerging technologies)
