CHL recrute un Directeur adjoint, Australie

Job Description

At the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership (CHL) we are transforming humanitarian leaders and influencing how humanitarian organisations and the system respond to the increasingly complex operating context. CHL is an innovative collaboration between Deakin University and Save the Children Australia that combines good humanitarian practice with academic rigour. Our accredited courses from Deakin University are facilitated by recognised leaders in the humanitarian field and offer unparalleled reach and insight into the real-world problems facing the industry today.

The Centre for Humanitarian Leadership is transforming leadership in the humanitarian system.

Integrity, collaboration, humility and courage are at the heart of our work. We envision a world where disaster and conflict affected communities aiming to achieve social and economic resilience and recovery will be supported by a humanitarian system characterised by leadership excellence.

Our research raises the level of humanitarian engagement in policy development and is a driving force behind debate about how leadership in the humanitarian sector can improve.

Creating transformative change requires a new way of thinking and engaging. Focussing on people and how they interact with technology and systems will achieve the desired outcome.

Where you come in:

In this full time, two year fixed-term position, based at Deakin University’s Burwood campus (though remote candidates may be considered), CHL seeks a senior ‘pracademic’ to join our passionate, high-performing team of academics, humanitarian practitioners, and like-minded professional support staff as Deputy Director. As Deputy Director, you’ll contribute to CHL’s strategy by leading critical work streams including external engagement, partnership development, business development and contributing to policy analysis and program design.

You will make an impact by:

  • Building and coordinating a network of partners and key stakeholders, developing opportunities for collaboration on strategic projects
  • Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities that support CHL’s aims and values
  • Designing, overseeing, and contributing to research and policy analysis in relation to key trends and emerging issues in the humanitarian sector
  • Shaping the vision for CHL’s industry-leading events which further humanitarian dialogue, support CHL’s strategic aims and add value to the wider humanitarian sector
  • Contributing to CHL’s leadership programs and master’s courses through program design, subject matter expertise and facilitation

Does this sound like you?

You have superior stakeholder engagement, partnership and business development skills, with proven ability to cultivate a stakeholder network across the humanitarian sector, identifying complementarity and seeking opportunities to collaborate. You have the experience and ability to drive new business development opportunities and contribute to program design and delivery.

This role requires:

  • Substantial operational humanitarian experience as well as wider engagement in the humanitarian practitioner space
  • Demonstrable experience in strategic relationship development and policy engagement, and the ability to cultivate a stakeholder network across the humanitarian sector
  • Demonstrable experience in leading business development and collaborative projects, including program design and learning/training content development
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically about complex issues and evolving contexts, with capacity for analytical and conceptual thought in the diagnosis of problems and providing innovate, timely, relevant, and practical solutions

Working at the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership is more than just a job.

It’s the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for communities affected by crisis and working with others who feel the same. In addition to a connection to social causes, you will have access to:

  • Competitive salary, plus full salary packaging benefits
  • Individual learning plans to assist in your career development
  • Friendly and flexible work environment
  • Agile work environment including working from home
  • Additional annual leave options available
