Where you come in:
In this part time, maximum term position (22.8 hours per week over 3 days, through to end of 2024 with strong potential for extension) you’ll be working in our Smalltalk supported playgroup program with children and their families to engage children to build their skills in all developmental areas to get them ready to transition into education, as well as working closely with key stakeholders to strengthen collaborative practice and create sustainable outcomes. Based in our Moe office in Latrobe, you’ll be part of our Victorian Programs team and report to our Team Leader.
You will make an impact by:
- Planning and facilitating weekly supported playgroup sessions (including in home support) that develop around your observation of the interests of participating children and the Smalltalk strategies;
- Finding creative ways to encourage families to engage with our support programs and services;
- Providing information and referrals to families to access other relevant programs or family support services;
- Empowering parents and caregivers to support their child’s development and learning;
- Collecting and recording data and information for the purpose of accountability, evaluation, and reporting.

This role requires:
- Knowledge of child and family issues and a proven understanding of child development stages and influences;
- Experience in group processes and facilitation, especially with families experiencing vulnerability;
- Experience working with families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background, Indigenous, low socio-economic, young parents, and socially or geographically isolated families;
- Qualification in Children’s Services, Early Childhood or Community Services (Diploma as minimum);
- Current valid driver’s licence.
