The Technical Assistant will report to the Research Investigator. The position holder will work to detect active case finding approaches to identify the children with presumptive TB from the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) corners of the health-care facilities and screening of the Household Contacts (HHCs) of bacteriologically positive TB patients. In addition, he/she will perform laboratory tests to identify the eligible person for TB preventive treatment, and follow up with the enrolled study participants as per protocol.  He/she will be involved in–

  • Facility-based active case finding, identify children with presumptive TB, data collect information through the data collection tab;
  • Screen the household contact of bacteriologically positive TB patients;
  • Collect blood samples from eligible participants and process for QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus test;
  • Perform Mantoux test (MT);
  • Ensure intake of TB preventive treatment (TPT) for the eligible participants;
  • Record necessary information of study participants;
  • Generate daily/weekly reports;
  • Transport and deliver samples to lab on time;
  • Deliver reports regarding study activities to the supervisor.

Required qualifications and experience :

  • SSC or equivalent with Diploma in Medical Technology (Laboratory).
  • 1-year relevant experience; candidates having experience with TB related activities /TB laboratory will be given preference.

Location: Upazillas in Narsingdi district.

Contract Type and duration :

CSA basis for 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits :

  • Tk 25,316 /-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
