Overview :
Climate change presents the single biggest threat to sustainable development and is already causing widespread, unprecedented impacts that disproportionately burden the poorest, marginalized and most vulnerable. These impacts could drive 100 million people globally into extreme poverty by 2030 Climate change will reverse hard-won human development gains, worsen inequalities, and trigger forced migration and conflict. It is also a key driver of disaster risks, leading to increased frequency, magnitude and impacts of climate-induced disasters on lives, livelihoods and socio-economic development.
In its effort to demonstrate the effects of climate change on the Botswana economy the Ministry of Environment Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism wishes to conduct a study to determine the Economic Impact of Climate Change on Botswana’s GDP. The results of the study will provide quantified impacts of climate change that will be used by the ministry to effectively advocate for political will and societal ownership of the NDCs and other climate initiatives and actions in the country.
Therefore, the project requires the services of a consultant to lead the assessment of the impacts of Climate change on Botswana’s economy as articulated in the scope of work.
