Description
The Logistics Assistant (LA) provides practical, logistical and planning support to the Faro Landscape operations. This position is responsible for site development and equipment maintenance, logistics and planning. The position reports to Landscape Manager/Technical Advisor (LMTA) and is based at Faro National Park.
Responsibilities
Site Development and Equipment Maintenance
Support the function and maintenance of infrastructure and equipment at Park Headquarters in Voko and the Faro Base Camp in the park, and those that support project activities in the landscape;
Provide training and instructions to staff for the above and other project-related activities;
Manage repairs, maintenance, and readiness of project motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles including trucks, quads, and generators;
Create a maintenance schedule for motorcycles, automobiles and other equipment;
Prepare a monthly report on maintenance and repair of vehicles and other equipment;
Monitor contracts for infrastructure and improvement in progress, including road building and maintenance and clearly raise any issues/challenges to the FAA;
Monitor and maintain solar energy production, use and storage and immediately advise LMTA if irregularities arise;
Assure daily functioning of all office equipment with particular emphasis in satellite and internet communications;
Logistics
Act as the primary support person to the missions and needs of the SdC;
Develop and maintain a complete and detailed list of equipment and consumables necessary for operations, with particular emphasis on support to the MINFOF, Conservation Service (SdC), Conservation Support Personnel (PACs), Tangos, and others conducting missions in the park and Faro Landscape;
Create procurement, stocking, monitoring and evaluation tools for equipment and consumables;
Be responsible for procurement of all consumables, including food rations and fuel, necessary to conduct park operations;
Responsible for the arrangement of travel and accommodations of AWF personnel in the landscape;
Provide the required components of the annual report to the Faro Landscape Director (FLD) for compilation, verification, and transmission to AWF and donors;
Support teams working on park roads and other infrastructure;
Planning
Conduct work planning and organizing of day workers including their work hours, transport, safety, confirmed presence and payment;
Identify potential providers for equipment and various services who are based in northern Cameroon;
Work with the FLD and LMTA to anticipate and plan future construction and equipment needs;
Be proactive to anticipate equipment and supply needs to procure them in a timely fashion;
Communicate with the Project Finance and Administration Officer on budget aspects of equipment and consumables purchases;
Identify needs and planning details to establish a mechanical/repair/construction workshops at project sites;
Review health, safety, emergency, hygiene protocols in place and identify future training needs for personnel under the supervision of AWF;
Include in the annual report evaluation data and follow-up for site development, maintenance and equipment procurement, and ;
Other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors.
Requirements
At least a High National Diploma (BTS: Brevet des Techniciens Superieurs in French) Logistics or related’
Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience preferably in an International NGO or enterprise;
Clean driving license with a minimum of 5 years of driving;
Strong ability in planning, organizing and coordinating activities;
Inventory and Stores Management, Procurement and Logistics Principles;
Internet/email communication skills ;
Ability to communicate effectively in French with English and Fulfulde as additional skills;
Ability to pay attention to detail and meet strict deadlines;
Ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment living under difficult conditions in a remote location;
Quick learner/fast adapter with high level of flexibility;
Familiarization in dealing with government departments, revenue authorities and immigration departments; and,
