- The African Development Bank hereby invites Individual Consultants to indicate their interest in the following Assignment: Water Resources Management and Climate Change Consultant -Technical Advisor to the African Water Facility (AWF)
- The AWF of the Water Development and Sanitation Department (AWHS) has collaborated with the Government of Denmark and the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) to develop a 5 years (2021-2025) programme to contribute to combating the impacts of COVID-19 in Africa through water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and integrated water and resource management (IWRM) measures. The programme targets poor and internally displaced communities in urban and rural settings in fragile regions of the continent. The five beneficiary countries are: Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Somalia. Up to 15 projects are expected to be implemented under the programme, and will have elements of emergency support to augment existing water supply and sanitation services, as well as the preparation of bankable climate resilient WASH projects to catalyze the flow of investments to the WASH sector in the five countries.
- The WRM Consultant/Technical Advisor will provide technical guidance and management support to ensure the soundness and climate-resilience of WASH measures implemented under the Programme including support for the following: project identification, design and implementation activities; capacity building of AWF and country staff; and, regular reporting on the Programme to the Bank and to donors.
- The African Water Facility (AWF) of the Water Development & Sanitation Department (AWHS) invites Individual Consultants to indicate their interest in providing the above-described services. Interested Consultants shall provide information on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to undertake this Assignment (documents, reference to similar services, experience in similar assignments, etc.).
- The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall be in conformity with the Bank’s Procurement Policy and Procedure for Corporate Consultants Recruitment. Please, note that interest expressed by a Consultant does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include him/her in the shortlist.
- The estimated duration of services is 24 months, with a possibility of a 12 months’ extension subject to performance. The estimated starting date is 19 July 2021.

- Establishment of the Short List
A shortlist of three to six individual consultants will be established at the end the request of expressions of interest. The consultants on the shortlist will be judged on the following criteria on the basis of their updated resume.
