Reporting to the Deputy Division Chief, HCM Cloud Support and Reporting, the Human Resources Department (HRD) is looking for a Senior Human Resources Officer (HRO), Workday, who will oversee the maintenance, enhancing, and expanding of Workday functionality with a view towards improving service delivery and the user experience.  As the Senior HRO for Workday, the incumbent will leverage strong operations experience and technical expertise in Workday to support organizational priorities and deliver well-designed, integrated, and user-friendly solutions that automate HR processes. The incumbent must have broad and deep expertise with Workday HCM.  Knowledge of PeopleSoft and ServiceNow Human Resources Services Delivery module is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to the Workday team, including resource planning, capacity needs, and prioritization of work. Ensure the team is working effectively and cohesively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Partner with leadership and key stakeholders within HRD and in other Departments to support organizational objectives, leveraging and enhancing Workday functionality to ease administrative burden and build efficient, effective, and user-friendly processes.
  • Serve as technical expert for all matters related to Workday — engaging in Workday Community, attending conferences, and participating in user groups staying ahead of Workday updates, fixes, features and ensuring that we are getting the most out of current and future Workday capabilities.
  • Manage and enhance the Workday request intake process and organize work to align with priorities and maximize impact. Establish standard operating procedures and workflows that improve the team’s efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage the Workday HCM platform including leading the configuration of integrations, reports and dashboards, business processes, and security; configure business process and domain security policies, create and manage security groups, maintain role assignments.
  • Lead the troubleshooting process to understand errors encountered by end-users. Maintain system stability and proactively coordinate issue resolution with different teams. Document solutions and inform teams accordingly.
  • Coordinate the Workday upgrade process. Define the timeline, communication strategy, coordinate technical testing, maintain documentation and liaise with relevant business owners impacted by the changes to ensure testing is performed and sign off provided.
  • Lead the development of a technology roadmap in conjunction with other stakeholders, taking into consideration existing features, new functionality and other modules that could bring value to the business.
  • Identify, establish and track key metrics to monitor team effectiveness and ticket resolution timelines, and track Workday utilization, identifying trends that can help inform decision-making.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (e.g. Information Technology Department, Finance Department and others) to identify any gaps or areas preventing smooth operations and to identify opportunities for enhancements and innovation.
  • Support timely identification and escalation of risks, providing strategic guidance and developing alternative technical and functional approaches when necessary.
  • Ensure audit and data privacy controls are upheld per internal policies and guidelines.  Manage and facilitate internal and external audit activities.
  • Manage 3rd parties and vendors to ensure alignment with goals, service delivery accountability, SLAs, and budgets
  • Support Change Management processes, enforcing requirements related to documentation of configuration or data integration changes along with other required artifacts in alignment with IT Service Management policies.
  • Builds presentations and turns data into simple stories or dashboards that can be easily understood by different audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Create and manage the Workday tenant strategy.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree, or equivalent, in Human Resources, engineering, IT or related field, plus a minimum of eight years of relevant professional work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree plus fourteen years of relevant professional work experience. At least four years of experience supporting Workday HCM in the following areas: Core HCM, Core Comp, Talent, Learning, and Recruiting, Position Management is required. Knowledge of Workday Payroll, Core Comp, Absence, and Benefits is desirable.  A minimum of four years supporting People Soft in HCM Core, Absence, Payroll, Benefits and Advanced Compensation is highly desirable.  Knowledge of ServiceNow HRSD is a plus.

Required Experience:

  • Workday expert with deep knowledge of business process framework and configuration, business objects, report writing, EIBs, and interdependencies between HCM Core, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, Security, Learning, Reporting, Integrations and future product direction.
  • Prior Workday implementation and operations support experience is mandatory including design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-production monitoring.
  • Workday training is required.  HCM Core training is mandatory, and Workday training on security, integrations, and other functional areas is highly desirable.
  • Success working in a changing environment as the Subject Matter Expert for Workday.
  • In-depth understanding of security models and approaches to implementing security architecture within Workday.
  • Strong project management capabilities with demonstrated success managing cross-functional projects.
  • Track record of being the go-to person for designing functional and technical system solutions to solve business problems.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationship, influence and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing, coaching technical teams and managing day to day work for the team
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to seamlessly toggle between strategic and tactical efforts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A desire to be part of a dynamic and result-focused team with the ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
