Job Description
- Work within TotalEnergies Ventures (TEV), the venture capital (VC) arm of Total, investing in startups developing innovative technologies and business models that can contribute to create a low carbon future (renewables, energy storage, smart grids, mobility, CCUS, circular economy, etc.) ;
- Work on technical and economic due diligences (cost estimates, market analysis, competition landscape analysis, etc.) and financial modeling associated with potential VC and M&A targets ;
- Meet with VCs and start-ups involved in clean-tech and build a useful network to identify potential relevant targets for Total ;
- Interact closely with different entities in the Group.
Tasks
- Identify and evaluate technologies and companies for potential investment, acquisition and/or collaboration ;
- Conduct in-depth analysis once companies are targeted: economic analysis, financial modeling, business plan review, technology assessment ;
- Participate in developing Total’s relationships with capital partners (investment funds, co-investors, banks, innovation hubs) ;
- Lead benchmark studies and collect intelligence on VC and M&A activities ;
- Understand and update relevant indicators for clean-tech markets and players ;
- Participate in case-by-case negotiations for investments.

The Venture Capital Analyst reports directly to the President of TotalEnergies New Ventures USA
- Small team and start-up environment ;
- Requires autonomy and initiative ;
- Requires cross-functional cooperation among the Group.
Candidate profile
- Bachelor or Master degree in science, engineering or business with 2-3 years of experience in a finance, consulting or analyst role ;
- Experience in startup, private equity, investment banking and/or strategy consulting required, background in energy preferred ;
- Avid self-learner with a high level of curiosity, strong discipline and attention to detail ;
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic and demanding environment ;
- Strong project management and execution skills and ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy ;
- Ability to integrate rapidly and to work effectively in a multicultural team of professionals ;
- Understanding of financial statements, financial concepts and financial modeling ;
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Powerpoint) ;
- Fluent in English. French is a plus ;
- Only candidates allowed to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship will be considered for this position.
