The SAP Desk Review Assistants will assist in identifying, compiling and synthesizing the secondary and primary data (as provided by the country teams). Working under the supervision of CRRD Strategy & Performance staff, the assistants will collaborate with relevant country teams’ support staff to scope out the details of each project and the type of data required, and will develop relevant data extraction and summary templates to host the information. The assistants will report to the Senior Director, Strategy & Performance and work closely with the SAP Senior Officer. This position is part time, with fluctuating hours, and the duration of the assignments will vary but is anticipated to be no later than December 2021.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support the identification, extraction, and synthesis of secondary and primary data (as provided by the country teams).
- Input information into co-designed data extraction and summary templates.
Learning Outcomes:
- Manage essential knowledge functions within humanitarian organizations.
- Translate and integrate academic literature into digestible, practical summaries and tools.
- Observe, interact, and network with different units within IRC and their teams.

Indirect Reporting: Senior Officer, SAP
Job Requirements:
Education: Completed or Pursuing bachelors or master’s degree in Social Sciences (e.g., developmental economics, political science, psychology, sociology, anthropology, social work, humanitarian studies etc.) or other relevant field
Work Experience: Experience or familiarity with systematic/literature reviews, online research databases/search engines, issues of relevance to the humanitarian or development sector, program monitoring and evaluation.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: Data management skills using excel, online literature searching skills using research databases/search engines, ability to write straightforward summaries of research findings, detail-oriented.
Language Skills: English required, Spanish/French/Arabic an additional asset. [NOTE: We are specifically recruiting for fluent French language skills currently.]
Working Environment:
- This role requires working only remotely (i.e., telecommuting).
- Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during scheduled work hours.
