Roles and Responsibilities:

The Investment Officer will lead the IT/automation processes and will report to the PENIN Manager. He/she will be responsible for coordination of technology solutions/projects supporting PENIN’s core investment/portfolio monitoring processes, including but not limited to:

  • Support the systematic archiving and inventory of all legal documents;
  • Effectively support the investment process (including the investment pipeline);
  • Automate the current manual processes of data/report extraction from external managers (e.g. capital call notices, distribution notices, periodic valuation notices, quarterly financial statements, investor letters, portfolio updates, portfolio company summaries, etc.);
  • Implementing investments decision-support solutions.

 Specific responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential PENIN technology needs, especially in: investment reporting and legal document management, CRM databases, investments pipeline management, investments decision-support solutions, etc;
  • Taking stock of all existing technology solutions/vendors currently used in PENIN, documenting contract terms, key contacts and required updates. In close partnership with PENIN teams, serve as point person for all technology vendor relationships/assist with troubleshooting/contract updates/renewals;
  • Communicating with relevant PENIN asset class and other teams to document user cases, prepare project documentation for potential RFP processes;
  • Sourcing/surveying best available technology solutions/vendors to fit the internal needs, organize demo meetings with PENIN management and asset class teams, collect feedback and prepare shortlist vendors
  • Help prepare and manage technology budget as input for PENIN management ;
  • Manage RFP process with all relevant internal stakeholders for shortlisted vendors;
  • Provide inputs related to PENIN technology use to internal stakeholders including TRE IT etc. 

Selection Criteria

  • Advanced degree (Masters preferred) in relevant field, preferably finance, business, economics, IT, MIS, computer science;
  • Five years of relevant work experience in finance and investments, with at least two to three years of investment management related experience or an appropriate combination of education and relevant experience;
  • Professional Certification such as a CFA and/or CAIA is a plus;
  • Experience with working with investment teams, understanding investment and legal review processes;
  • Experience with financial and investment technology solutions including AI/Machine Learning, databases, and vendors. Familiarity with other quantitative analytical packages is desirable;
  • Demonstrated project management experience, ability to scope the user case, identify best technology solutions to fit the purpose;
  • Thorough knowledge of Bank Group RFP and other policies, procedures, and practices, including a good understanding of those related to Pension Investments;
  • Creative thinker and quick learner, with initiative, drive, and attention to details;
  • Proven capacity to multi-task, deliver results and respond quickly and effectively to requests. Ability to work under pressure;
  • Excellent communication — both verbal and written skills are required. Experience giving presentations and trainings is desirable;
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal skills, and commitment to work in a team-oriented, multi-cultural environment;
  • Highest ethical standards.
