Job Role Summary

The Senior Process Engineer, as part of the Process Safety & Technology Department, will be the Site Subject Matter Expert (SSME), responsible for the continuous improvement of process safety, reliability, profitability, & efficiency across multiple Technology Areas within the Refinery.  This individual will maintain an in-depth understanding of the current state of Process Safety risks and Process Technologies within the refining industry and work with other specialists within ExxonMobil to support the Beaumont Refinery (BMRF) located in Beaumont, Texas.

Job Role Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates leadership in both Process and Personnel Safety by driving systems/principles and reinforcing the behaviors necessary to achieve “Nobody Gets Hurt”
  • Maintains and builds the organization’s in-depth Process Safety & Process Technical knowledge via development and delivery of formal training
  • Provides senior technical oversight and review for complex issues and key technical recommendations
  • Organizes and leads technical and cross-functional teams to address complex issues or technical activities with cross-site, cross-function, or cross-region implications
  • Organizes and leads cross functional teams to collaboratively develop project improvement ideas
  • Provides technical training, leadership, and mentorship to other engineers to develop expertise for future refinery and/or regional support
  • Supports the development of the next generation of technical leaders
  • Understands and proactively improves the performance of base operations and facilities
  • Initiates, supports, and champions technically advanced processes, solutions, or developments within their area of responsibility
  • Networks with peers and/or other sites to identify and evaluate developments/opportunities for application within the site or region
  • Provides technical consulting as needed to the site and/or region; team player within the ExxonMobil Technical Community
  • Manages multiple tasks simultaneously, using less experienced resources to leverage more experienced resources to deliver quality work products
Job Requirements
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years Experience in Refining or Refining Technology
  • A minimum of 5 years of Refining plant experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to Process and Personnel Safety
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple Refining Technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Proven leadership, with or without formal authority
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent interpersonal, multi-cultural, analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization on technical topics
  • Capable of working independently and achieving results while maintaining high standards
  • Capable of working with/leading teams and achieving results while maintaining high standards
  • Proven ability to manage short deadlines
  • Ability to provide mentoring for less experienced engineers
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and process design software / simulation packages
  • Possesses excellent administrative and organizational competencies

  • Refining technical experience in the field/unit for more than one of the following:

    Senior Process Engineer – Heavy Oils

  • Crude Processing (Desalting, Distillation…)
  • Delayed Coking
  • Distillate Hydroprocessing
  • Wet Treating (Merox…)
  • Sulfur Recovery (Claus Process)
  • Amine Treating & Regeneration
  • Sour Water Processing

 

Senior Process Engineer – Light Oils

  • Catalytic Naphtha Reforming (UOP CCR Technology)
  • Fluidized Catalytic Cracking
  • Hydrocracking
  • Sulfuric Acid Alkylation
  • Pentane Isomerization
  • Saturated & Unsaturated Light Ends Processing
  • Cryogenic Separation

 

Senior Process Engineer – Offisites & Utilities

  • Tank / Piping Operation and Design
  • Product Logistics
  • Wharf Operations
  • Power Generation (Cogeneration, Steam Turbine Generators)
  • Steam Production & Steam Systems
  • Cooling Tower Operation & Management
  • Water Treatment & Management (Boiler Feed Water, Cooling Tower Water, Waste Water…)
  • Flare / Flare System Operation and Design
