Duties and responsibilities

  • Plan, pitch and book broadcast interviews on institutional priorities;
  • Regularly monitor broadcast coverage of current events, public opinion and other internal or external developments related to the Bank Group and its work, and highlight to colleagues as relevant;
  • Act as liaison point for ECRME with social media and digital colleagues, to ensure alignment of media and online work;
  • Build and maintain relationships with broadcasters and work on broadcast partnerships;
  • Working with technical colleagues, develop, plan, script, and deliver Video News Releases tied to major report launches and announcements;
  • Copy-edit and share transcripts of relevant broadcast stories and interviews within a time-pressured environment;
  • Write media briefs for interviewees as needed;
  • With a focus on broadcast media, help to develop, execute, and monitor the impact of communications strategies and campaigns that target key external audiences;
  • Respond to and re-direct routine and non-routine broadcast media inquiries about the Bank;
  • Identify broadcast media stories that should be added to the daily media clips that are relevant to the World Bank Group, together with colleagues in Paris;
  • Keep track of calendars of major events and report launches and help coordinate broadcast media, to avoid clashes with one another;
  • Work independently on routine tasks and programs, but seek guidance from his/her supervisor as needed on more complex projects/issues, and external relationships;
  • This role may require working on some weekends and late hours.

Selection Criteria :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, plus at least two years relevant practical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Familiarity with broadcast media tools and news production (technical skills such as camera operation and editing are not required);
  • Strong computer skills; proven ability to use standard technology packages, e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.;
  • Basic knowledge of web editing/content management systems a plus;
  • Strong interest in development issues, strategic communication, and multilateral cooperation, with the ability to disseminate information effectively and strategically;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; attention to detail, ability to interact with external and internal audiences of various types and levels and to make presentations to small groups;
  • Ability to work independently and to juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.

Experience:

  •  Media experience, preferably as a broadcast journalist or producer is considered a plus for this position.
