Job description

Still I Rise, an international NGO, works towards development and the realization of humanitarian projects aiming at providing education and support to refugee children and youth, is looking for a Researcher. The selected candidate, under the supervision of the Advocacy and Comms director, will be responsible for planning, drafting and finalizing research products and policy briefs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify themes, issues and problems related to the rights of children and refugees for research and related advocacy campaigns.
  • Conduct research and related assignments on agreed topics and prepare reports, policy briefs and publications.
  • Responsible for collecting, recording and analyzing data.
  • Collaborate with and support field teams, including the development of tailored tools to ensure consistent data gathering when required.
  • Set up and maintain communication with relevant stakeholders and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Campaigner and Press Office Manager to ensure the adequate adaptation of contents for public communication.
  • Coordinate the graphic design process of final products.
  • Support the Advocacy department in the preparation of technical documents (briefings, talking points, technical input, etc.) when required for external meetings and other kinds of stakeholder interactions.
  • Support the Advocacy Director, the team and other departments on ad-hoc requests and tasks.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • A degree in Political Science, Law, International experience or similar.
  • Master’s in related subjects or equivalent experience in research, advocacy, human rights law, campaigning, lobbying or similar.
  • Sound knowledge of refugee rights, migration policy, SGBV, child protection and environmental issues as well as humanitarian law and human rights law.
  • Fluency in English is a requirement, fluent Italian and French a strong advantage. Proficiency in Arabic, Spanish or Swahili are considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the contexts Still I Rise works in.
  • Ability to analyze socio-political scenarios, develop complex ideas, and communicate them clearly.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work independently on a range of tasks and projects and take initiative going the extra mile to get the job done.
  • Good strategic, creative, and innovative thinking.
