POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director leads the development of a learning and education strategy to build skills and capability across the organization. The individual will assess needs across the different units, bringing expertise in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and adult learning and propose and implement best practice solutions. The Director will lead the existing racial equity working groups to champion the vision and strategy and clarify priorities in achieving long-lasting impact. This role needs a strategic thinker who understands the value and importance of collaboration across the organization to achieve DEI objectives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish an annual DEI workplan and goals for the inclusion of and advancement of the DEI agenda throughout the organization, and create accountability measures, and metrics to ensure these goals are met; this includes benchmarking, analyzing data, tracking, and communicating metrics to all staff.
- Drive strategic and programmatic DEI initiatives that are globally focused.
- Manage and respond to requests for support from staff on DEI matters; advise the People & Culture Business Partner team on DEI-related issues and concerns.
- Work with the HO Foundation Working Group to build Winrock’s DEI learning journey, focusing on a mindfulness skills foundation to equip leaders, managers, and staff with renewed self-awareness regarding the role each individual plays in dismantling systemic racism, becoming aware of and mitigating our implicit biases, and learning to cultivate DEI habits in our daily work.
- Ensure a focus of DEI into all phases of the employee experience globally including talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance and compensation management, and Provide guidance, support, and best practices to support the success of the employee affinity group efforts.
- Engage with the Executive Team to ensure ownership and accountability on DEI initiatives and programs.
- Develop annual US and Global staff surveys to collect feedback, analyze results and report on current state and progress made towards the achievement of DEI objectives.
- Train all staff on building DEI literacy, including identifying unconscious bias, and developing empathy and emotional intelligence.
- Partner with business unit managers to cultivate diverse, inclusive, and equitable teams. Serve as a knowledgeable, trusted advisor to managers and business leaders on DEI trends and learning best practices.
- Work with DEI Global Task Force groups to develop specific and contextualized strategies for their specific area of focus.
- Leverage available DEI training along with sourcing any additional learning opportunities on how to be anti-racist, how to be an ally, and how to create and sustain a truly diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizational culture.
Act as a strategic advisor and thought partner across Winrock to provide bold DEI thought leadership, expert insight, and related programming and leadership recommendations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree preferred;
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience;
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in developing solutions and implementing strategies with a focus on diversity and cross-cultural resource efforts in an organization with diverse constituencies;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in driving multi-year, company-wide learning endeavors;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Position-Specific Skills:
- Expertise in education and coaching;
- Strong problem-solving capabilities;
- Strong facilitation skills and public speaking experience;
- Proven track record in prioritizing competing priorities;
- Successful track record in creating, organizing, and implementing a DEI strategy;
- Depth of knowledge in diversity, equity, and inclusion best learning practices;
- Demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships across a matrixed organization;
- Strength in self-expression and communication (written and oral) with a proven ability to influence and drive change;
- Applied expertise in facilitating discussions on difficult topics, and coaching others in this area;
- Collaboration skills including the ability to integrate and act upon diverse perspectives.
Computer/Technical Skills: Microsoft Office experience required (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Language: Fluent in English required. Secondary language is desired.
Required Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel will be required.
Physical Demands:
- Typical office environment with continual sitting or standing required;
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
