Your tasks

The Junior Project Manager will support implementation of the Technical Assistance for Business Environment and Investment Climate including e-government (BEIC) Project, funded by the European Union.

She/he will work closely within a team of administrative and technical staff, including experts, and will directly report to the Team Leader of the unit.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Organizing workflows and backstopping processes;
  • Supporting the BEIC team in ensuring smooth processes and effective management in all relevant matters;
  • Supporting Team Leader in Visibility activities;
  • Supporting Business Development and broader implementation issues as necessary;
  • Supporting a team of international and local experts under the guidance of the team leader in matters such as reporting, organization/logistics, quality assurance, etc.;
  • Supporting on all tasks necessary in order to ensure delivery towards highest standards and deadlines;
  • Assist the BEIC team on project implementation issues as well as day-to-day administration work, including the compilation of various periodical submissions to GIZ and/or EU Delegation in Ethiopia (EUD) as required, and link with GIZ administrative services as required;
  • Prepare and track the project timelines and reporting requirements for the BEIC, tracking delivery against project milestones, raising any risks or issues with the Team Leader, and assist in compiling relevant reports and other key documents by means of either editorial work and/or collection of pertinent documentation;
  • Input and update of accurate data and information to facilitate monitoring and evaluation of project activities;
  • Support procurement according to EC and GIZ rules on incidental expenditure and link with the appropriate GIZ services to that effect;
  • Assist the BEIC team in organising workshops, meetings, conferences, and study visits abroad (agenda, invitation, minutes, list of participants, venue arrangements) and link to the appropriate GIZ services to that effect;
  • Prepare the Steering Committee Meetings (agenda, invitations, minutes);
  • Assist the Team Leader in drafting documentation for engaging Non-Key Experts;
  • documents and files completed order transactions in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules;
  • assists local procurement of materials and services, support invitations to tenders and order processing.

Your profile

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law or other relevant field; post-graduate degree and/or academic experience will be considered an advantage;
  • Previous involvement in project management will be considered as an advantage;
  • Proven familiarity with the EU regulation would be an advantage;
  • Experience in working in an international environment;
  • High ability to act under pressure on multiple levels of management and communication;
  • Excellent computer literacy skills in MS Office and online environment;
  • Excellent English language competency (C2 read, speak and write);
  • Excellent knowledge of Amharic (written and spoken) is required.
