The Role
Oxfam International’s Africa Platform is looking for an HR Officer to provide excellent guidance and support on the whole range of the employee lifecycle (tactical and operational), ensuring compliance to local labour law and internal policies and procedures.
Main responsibilities
General Administration
• Provision of administrative support to the People and Culture Business Partner on day to day People
management
• Assist with staff Internal communications
• Conduct research on legal issues and or business practices
• Assist in employee relation issues, interpreting and advising on policies
• Support the implementation of the regional training and development plan and ensure that
performance management procedures are implemented
• Help promoting safe, healthy and inclusive work environment
Recruitment
• Actively take part in recruitment processes and provide administrative support in planning and
implementing the whole recruitment processes
• Support in maintaining an effective induction system for new joiners by providing orientation on key
Oxfam policies and practices
• Monitor staff contracts and produce required documents/contract extension and administration of staff termination
• Support the initiatives to attract more women, maintaining and updating the candidate database,
contacting potential candidates, headhunting and contributing to social media campaigns
Systems and data
• Maintain an effective staff filing system, staff lists and records, in coordination with OIS and affiliate
colleagues
• Collecting and synthesizing data from country offices on a monthly basis, prepare regional consolidation and input quarterly management reports
Change Management
• Support the People and Culture Business Partner with aspects in relation to the change processes in countries and the regional platform
• Support monitoring progress of tasks and implementation of the team transition plans
• Participate to coordination meetings and follow-up on agreed actions.
We’re looking for a person with
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business administration or Human resources.
- Previous experience in People and Culture with a generalist role
- High proficiency in advanced administrative concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, writing for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills; with great attention to details
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collegial nature with multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Customer oriented and pro-active
- Fluent in working communication in English (oral and written) and other languages particularly French is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Oxfam context, background, and major HR processes
- Experience in supporting organizational change and transitions.
- Cross-culture understanding of how an international development agency operates, communicate well cross-culturally.
