The salary range for this role is 43,000 to 45,000 pounds. 

The External Relations (ER) department was created in early 2020 and is comprised of 3 main but complementary functional areas: Private fundraising, Communications and Advocacy. The department is in the beginning stages of building a new ambitious strategy that will improve IRC’s ability to ‘punch above its weight’ in private income, advocacy, and brand awareness.

Supporting this endeavor, and an integral part of ER, is the Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services (GPPS) Unit. Reporting into the VP Global Partnerships and Philanthropy, GPPS consists of functional specialists across a variety of high-value fundraising functions providing all elements of cultivation, support and stewardship to high value donors, partners, and supporters, comprising three pillars: Research, Partner Engagement & Corporate Affairs, and Program Services. Program Services is anticipated to become GPPS’ largest sub-pillar and is vested at the nexus of HV fundraising and our operations and programs in the field. This pillar comprises of proposal, proposition and reporting development services, field experiences, and program services and field capacity.

The IRC has a new exciting opportunity within the Program Services unit, where you would be part of a team critical to the advancement of our aspirational high-value (HV) goals and vision.

 

Job Overview:

The Officer, Donor Propositions will develop funding proposals and impact reports to strengthen the HV teams and to increase IRC’s global fundraising and partnerships efforts. The Officer will become immersed in the organization’s programs and translate that content into unrestricted or restricted HV language. We want to add your superb writing, communication skills, and experience to the IRC family!

 

Major Responsibilities:

•Transform programmatic content into sophisticated, compelling donor-friendly proposals and communication materials with planned matching impact reporting

•Stay up to date on IRC programs, as well as global events and trends impacting the humanitarian sector, the places we work and the lives of our beneficiaries

•Write funding propositions, impact reports, and concept notes in collaboration with fundraisers for HV donors

•Support and expand the number of bespoke funding proposals to our global HV teams and matching impact reporting and supporting materials

•Create and support on special propositions to be used in partnership with virtual and in-person field experiences

•Produce donor communications that are digestible, informative, timely and true to the IRC’s messaging and brand

•Gather and develop personal stories and other content from the field and tailor it for HV audiences, with a focus on tailoring it for HV audiences

•Create resources by funding theme for fundraisers to use as donor cultivation and stewardship communications

•Interview IRC beneficiaries, staff, donors and volunteers for research and content purposes

•Seek opportunities to include templates/communication materials that will encourage tweets, donor web content, or narratives they can use with their own networks or at suitable events

 

Profil

 

•College/university degree, including coursework in English literature, journalism, marketing, advertising, communications, international relations or other relevant subject area preferred

•Approximately 3 to 6 years of professional writing experience, with a background in nonprofit fundraising writing preferred.  Writing samples required

•Experience communicating technical information captured from diverse international settings; to conceptualize creatively and produce strong, clean, compelling copy and expertise in reporting, fact checking, line-editing and proofreading

•Experience blending cash and non-financial asks where relevant, including GIK (goods, services and expertise), advocacy and campaigning support, and  other communication channels

•Global and diverse private fundraising experience writing for and impact reporting on 6 figure+ gifts with, ideally both foundations and HNWI

•Excellent interpersonal skills and the facility to serve as a member of a small team and to collaborate adaptively and effectively with professionals across the organization

•Proven organizational skills, including the ability to work independently, under pressure or in a fast paced environment, and handle multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of the overall goals

•Passionate about IRC’s mission

•Outstanding written English Language Skills

•Knowledge of multiple languages a plus (Spanish, French, Korean or Arabic strongly preferred)
