Total recrute un Ingénieur de réservoir junior / Ressources non conventionnelles (H / F),COURBEVOIE(PLD)-COUPOLE, France

Description du poste

Job Environment and Context

Hosted by the Middle East Exploration Hub, the Unconventional Resources Entity (UNC) directs and coordinates unconventional new business projects and acquisition activities at global scope. It manages the technical interpretations and studies necessary for unconventional resources prospects (tight gas, tight oil, shale gas, shale oil, CBM). The entity participates in the preparation of development plans in coordination with Business and other Technical entities, to ensure project profitability.

In all studies, the team also ensures that the environmental impacts of projects are line with TOTAL’s Net Zero Carbon public commitments and front line actions towards the Energy Transition.

Objectives, Missions and Tasks

The global unconventional resources stakes are considerable and make this theme an growing theme within the Group. The mission thus contributes to the development of Total’s expertise in this field, specifically in Reservoir Engineering activities for exploration.

As TOTAL is strengthening its knowledge and use of datascience, the mission’s activities will moreover strongly take advantage of this field; being a unique opportunity for Reservoir Engineer with datascience capabilities.

Finally, as TOTAL is at the front line of the Energy Transition in the industry, the mission will contribute to TOTAL’s Net Zero Carbon policy by assessing the environmental impacts of unconventional projects.

Objective 1: Assess the resources of unconventional North American basins. This assessment is then used during projects carried out by the entity and is transmitted to the Exploration and Production Strategy entity to assess the global production supply. Activities:
– Decline curve analysis of recently drilled North American wells (which includes the analysis of different regions and basins).
– Study the performance and current production costs of North American operators (technologies used, development plans retained, quality of rock produced, etc.).
This objective requiers familiarity with datascience and Python coding, as the entity is strengthening it’s analysis efficiency of unconventional reservoirs.

Objective 2: Contribute to carrying out studies in Reservoir engineering managed by the unconventional exploration entity and interact with the stakeholders concerned. Activities:
– Identification of analogue basins within North American developments,
– Evaluation of production profiles and development proposal,
– Performing Rate Transient Analysis.

Objective 3: Further strengthen the environment impact analysis of unconventional projects (green house gases emissions, coal to gas swiching, water supply reduction).
