Job Description

The role interacts regularly with other teams in Finance (Reporting, Trading Control/ Accounting) and other departments (notably Legal, Traders) as well as with external auditors, and Group Consolidation department.
Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Financial Controller holds a direct responsibility for the following activities:
IFRS
– Review IFRS and prepare accounting policies (IFRS16 or 9 for example) as and when required to follow constant evolutions in standards and requirements. Ensure proper and accurate application in TGPL and other Midstream affiliates.
Annual Statutory accounts
– Prepare the annual statutory accounts for TGPL and other Midstream affiliates, ensure timely filing under UK company law requirements and Swiss regulations.
– Liaise with external auditors on organisation, timing and findings. Provide appropriate responses and help with resolution of finance audit points raised by the auditors and acknowledge by the company.
Regulatory reporting:
– Compute all regulatory reports that fall under TGPL as per UK, Swiss and other European requirements
Tax reporting/compliance:
– Compute current and deferred tax calculations for integration in the monthly and quarterly results
-Assist the Corporate Accounting Manager with any other tax related matters (direct and indirect).
-Assist the Corporate Accounting Manager with tax compliance both direct and indirect.

Due to the size and complexity of the Trading activities, the Financial Controller needs to build good relationships at various levels of the organisation (TGPL, other Trading affiliates, Group headquarters…) and with a range of interlocutors (senior management, Finance, lawyers, auditors).
The position requires to act proactively in making choices and completing tasks and to demonstrate an ability to work in a time pressured environment to achieve reporting deadlines. The position also requires to be able to communicate and explain effectively and convince and influence stakeholders.
Under the Corporate Accounting Managermanagement , the Financial Controller :
- Computes the annual statutory accounts and is the liaison point with external auditors during the process
- Computes all required regulatory reporting (UK, Swiss, and other European countries)
- Computes the monthly current and deferred tax
- Ensures accounting policies are maintained, modified and improved as necessary
- Works closely with Trading Control team to compute and study the quarterly Group disclosures
- Assists the Corporate Accounting Manager with tax reporting and compliance
Candidate profile
- You are a University / Business School graduate in Accounting / Business Finance.
- Should you hold an accounting qualification (CA, CCA, CPA, Brevet Fédéral) it will be seen as an advantage.
- You have a minimum five years’ experience in an accounting role with good knowledge of accounting principles and various accounting standards (UK, Swiss, IFRS). Prior Big 4 experience will be seen an advantage.
- Having some experience in a trading environment is necessary in order to rapidly grasp all the specificities of the industry; should that be in a commercial role or in a Big 4 with a specialization in Commodities.
- Experience in tax (reporting and compliance) is an added value.
- You have advanced IT application and strong data management skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Sun). Good spreadsheet modelling and numeracy.
- Having excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines in necessary as you will be evolving in a very fast-pasted, multi-cultural and collaborative environment
- You are fluent in English and French (desirable).
