Contexte et Environnement
The computational R&D teams are in charge of supporting the refineries for troubleshooting studies with CFD tools. One typical problem is related to wall erosion in gas-solid flows encountered for both mature and new processes using fluidized beds. The objective of the internship is to assess, compare and develop numerical models and CFD tools for the prediction of wall erosion in both academic and industrial configurations using OpenFOAM.
Profil recherché
We are looking for a student preparing a master’s degree in fluid mechanics or process engineering
The candidate will be involved in the comparison of numerical approaches, models and if necessary, develop new models for predicting wall erosion in gas-solid flows using OpenFOAM.
Knowledge :
Linux, HPC, pre-processing, post-processing, Office, Python, Academic level knowledge of C++ and scripting in LINUX environment, Fluid mechanics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), numerical simulations, process engineering.
English : Fluent
French : Fluent
Activities :
- Perform a literature review on modeling approaches on wall erosion CFD modeling
- Compare the relevant models on academic configurations from the literature or develop new models to improve the erosion rate
- Extend the approach to industrial configurations
