Epicentre is looking for a Statistician to the benefit of Epicentre and MSF programs in several countries.

Epicentre in collaboration with MSF and other international partners has conducted two large multi-country prospective observational cohort studies related to the diagnosis of tuberculosis and the treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis. In addition, Epicentre is currently planning a new multi-country prospective observational cohort study related to the diagnosis and management of tuberculosis in children, that will be launched in the coming months. Epicentre is also currently conducting other research studies related to tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases.

What you will bring : Skills to perform your main activities: 

The responsibilities will be related particularly to the two multi-country tuberculosis studies already conducted and the new pediatric study mentioned in the background but may also be related to other research studies.

  • Carry out the statistical analyses planned in the research studies, including longitudinal data analyses, survival analyses, diagnostic accuracy, among others, on large, complex, multi-country databases.
  • Lead the reflection on the statistical methods of the research projects.
  • Develop appropriate sections in the research documents (data management and statistical analysis plans, standard operator procedures related to data management) and participate in the review of other tools (protocols, amendments, case report forms, ethical review board process).
  • Develop and validate new databases according to the research studies needs and specifications.
  • Conduct data management including data cleaning and ensure data quality.
  • Develop and maintain automated interim study reports.
  • Write appropriate interim or final reports providing the results of the statistical analyses.
  • Work closely with the principal investigator of the study and with other team members, including study co-investigators, data encoders, data managers, and others, to accomplish the tasks required for studies advancement.
  • Present the results of the statistical analyses to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
  • Participate in ad hoc meetings.

Team management skills: You will be requested to demonstrate your excellent planning and organizational skills; capacity to coordinate activities with other departments and partners, capacity to integrate into a multi-disciplinary, multi-national, highly motivated, and competent team.

International context: you are willing and able to travel internationally on short notice. You have an excellent level of English (oral, written).

Qualifications

Educational & Experience: You have a Master or doctoral degree on Statistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, or Sciences with a strong applied statistical skill.

You have a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, strong statistical programming skills in R, STATA or other program, a good knowledge of STATA is a plus.

You have demonstrated in your professional background a technical expertise with database development. and you are familiar with RedCap.

Fluent written and oral communication in English is mandatory. French is desirable.

You are appreciated for your written and verbal communication skills. You have proven ability to work under pressure demonstrating agility through effective and innovative team leadership and be flexible. You must be able to anticipate challenges and risks and proactively suggest/implement solutions.

You have a good understanding of clinical research, medical terminology, and reporting formats, knowledge of operational research in humanitarian contexts is desirable.
