Its headquarters in Paris, its sections and offices in 13 cities abroad (including Berlin, London, Rio, Taipei, Tunis, Dakar and Washington) as well as its network of correspondents in more than 130 countries give the organization a strong mobilization capacity and a very important influence on the field.
We are looking for our Head of Desk Technologies
Your mission :
Reporting to the Head of the Publications Department / Editor-in-Chief, and Operations Department, you supervise technological disruptions affecting journalism, establish and support RSF’s position on technologies and their use with specific business in collaboration with regional desks
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Participate in all developments related to this subject, participating in working networks on the existing subjects;
- Analyze legislative and regulatory initiatives, platform activity and their self-regulatory solutions affecting freedom of expression;
- Provide position papers on the main issues at stake;
- Design and carry out all the public or institutional advocacy legit actions to defend this position: drafting of press releases, responses to consultations, meetings to defend our position with all the decision-makers involved, publications on the RSF website, reports, campaign on social networks, interventions, intervention preparation by RSF representatives, interviews, etc.
Expériences / Formation
Your profile :
Graduate in journalism and / or international relations, you have at least three years of experience as a journalist or editor. Technological data skills, combined with your excellent editorial fluency, allows you to share an editorial and political vision of issues related to digital technology and cybersecurity.
Force of proposal with the editor-in-chief, you are able to make transcriptions of the technical data.
High attraction to issues of fundamental freedoms and freedom of expression, you also have the ability to represent the organization to the authorities and to give interviews to local or international media.
Rigor, autonomy and great responsiveness are essential qualities for the position, as well as the taste for teamwork.
