- The Government of the Republic of Ghana has applied for a grant from the Africa Water Facility (AWF) which is hosted and administered by the African Development Bank(AfDB) towards the cost of the ‘Sustainable Faecal Sludge Management in Urban Centres Studies in Ghana’ and intends to apply the amount for this grant to payments under the contract for ‘Consultancy Services for Feasibility Studies, Engineering Design and Tender Documentation for the ‘Sustainable Faecal Sludge Management in Urban Centres Project’.
- The specific objectives of the consultancy assignment are to conduct feasibility studies and prepare detailed designs for provision of sustainable and inclusive access to faecal sludge management infrastructure and services in urban areas in Ghana.
- The scope of services for the Consultant will include but not limited to: (i) Preparation of Feasibility Study, Conceptual and Preliminary Design, (ii) Preparation of Detailed Design and Tender Documentation; Cost Benefit Analyses; Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Resettlement Action Plan; and Investment Plan to facilitate access to effective Citywide Inclusive Sanitation. The consultancy services will be carried out over a period of 12 Months.
- The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources (MSWR) now invites eligible Consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.
- The project area covers twelve (12) selected cities and towns across eleven (11) regions and are indicated in two (2) Lots as follows:
- Lot 1: Ashanti, Western, Volta, Oti, Eastern and Central Regions; and
- Lot 2: Upper East, Upper West, Northern, Bono East and Bono Regions.
Consultants shall indicate their preferred Lots by stating one Lot or both.

- Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations dated October 2015, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
